Kindergarten Landscape Improvements

If you walked near the D wing last week you noticed the work of our ambitious kindergarten parents in front of Mrs. Anderson's room. The parents gathered on a recent Saturday for a Kindergarten mini-make-a-difference-day and made some major improvements to the area. Check it out next time you are on campus. It is really great to have volunteers like this at the kindergarten level who will be maintaining Strandwood's excellent level of parental involvement for years to come. A big thank you to all those involved.

Favorite Teacher Award

The Foundation for Pleasant Hill Education (FPHE) is eScriptsponsoring a Favorite Teacher Award for Pleasant Hill teachers.  Teachers inspire and teach our children daily; encourage your student to recognize a teacher that has made a difference in his or her life.  Students can nominate any teacher currently teaching in Pleasant Hill public schools (K-8). One winning teacher from each school will be honored on Friday, April 3rd with a prize and public recognition.  Winners will be determined by a combination of the number of nominations per teacher and the reasons cited on the form. One entry per student is allowed.

If you did not receive a Favorite Teacher Nomination form, you can download one at www.fphe.org or obtain one from your school office.

Turn in your completed nominations by March 27th to your school office or to Score Learning Center at 35B Crescent Dr., Pleasant Hill.

If you have questions, please email generalinfo@fphe.org.

Diablo Unified School District will vote on Measure D, a $99 school funding measure to provide MDUSD with an estimated $7 million annually in local funding. The 32nd District PTA of which the Strandwood PTA is a part, has decided to endorse this measure.  Our PTA has not had an opportunity to look at ourselves but we would like to encourage everyone to get informed about the Measure, about MDUSD's budget issues and how the State and Federal budget issues further impact us.

For information about the measure you can go to www.ProtectOurLocalSchools.org and if you want to volunteer or participate in some fashion, please contact Cindy Turner, Strandwood's site representative, at pcturner@sbcglobal.net.
