PTA Agenda, Meeting and Minutes
|
The next PTA meeting is Thursday, February 5th. Come join us and see what your PTA is up to. This month the 1st grade teachers will be letting us know what they have been doing and what is in store for the remainder of the year. The meeting agenda is now available on the website by opening the PTA tab and then Meetings on the right side or by clicking here.
If you don't get the opportunity to be around school and get "the scoop" you should make it a point to attend when your grade level is presenting. The 2nd grade teachers will be at the March meeting, 4th grade in April and 3rd grade in May. The 5th grade teachers presented last month and the minutes for that meeting, and the 4 months prior, are available on the website or by clicking here. Reading the minutes is a great (and easy) way to stay up on PTA happenings. Go ahead, spend a few minutes catching up.
Remember... free babysitting is provided at the meetings. |
More Ways to Help The PTA
|
The Auction Dinner Dance isn't the only fund-raising activity currently going on. There are two programs that are always accepting contributions, the ink and toner cartridge return and Box Tops for Education. The office has places to deposit either of these items just inside the front door, to the left.
Turn in your empty ink and toner cartridges and Strandwood recycles them earning up to $4 each!
Currently we are in the last month of the Box Tops for Education Contest and the individual rooms are currently collecting them. February is the last month of the contest so make sure you get those box tops turned in by the 28th. The PTA just received a check for over $600 from the Box Tops for Education program! Great job everyone.
Another great way to contribute is by using the Box Tops Marketplace to do your online shopping. By entering through the Marketplace you can earn up to 20% of your purchase for Strandwood. Most stores return about 3% to 5% of your order and that really adds up. Shop online at stores like Walmart, Target, Lands End, Lillian Vernon, Barns & Nole, Office Depot, Best Buy, Discovery Channel Store, Disney, Gap stores, Kohl's and more. Click here to see a list of all participating stores. Schools in Brentwood, Oakley, San Ramon and Danville are earning thousands for their schools, we can too. Login to www.boxtops4education.com today and see how easy it is to help.

New technology equipment has been purchased, pilot programs are underway looking for unified writing programs for all grade levels and many other exciting programs are being reviewed for reading, spelling, math and handwriting. read the minutes from last meeting by going to to Faculty/Staff tab on the website and clicking site council on the left side of the page, or, of course, by clicking here. |

First of all I would like to thank those that emailed me regarding the $1,000,000 question last week. The question should have read mass divided by volume equals ______. (density)

When I mentioned that Parker Brothers, maker of the board game, had it wrong I got this from one parent - "I guess PB (Parker Brothers) doesn't have a Monopoly on fact

Fun Facts

The planet Jupiter transmits radio waves equivalent to a billion bolts of lightening.
Insect blood is mostly light green.
The album, "A Hard Day's Night" was the first Beatles album with all original tracks.
Actor Michael Caine was christened Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, Jr. When Caine first became an actor, he adopted the stage name
"Michael Scott". His agent soon informed him, however, that another
actor was already using the same name, and that he had to come up with
a new name immediately. Speaking to his agent from a telephone box in Leicester Square in London, Caine looked around for inspiration, noted that The Caine Mutiny
was being shown at the Odeon Cinema, and decided to change his name to
"Michael Caine". He has joked in interviews that had he looked the
other way, he would have ended up as "Michael One Hundred and One Dalmatians".
