Welcome 2012!

Happy New Year.  We hope 2012 is a great year and brings you good fortune.  RMH Providence resolves to continue keeping our House warm and welcoming to the families in need.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions on what you would like to see in our next newsletter,  please contact Nicole Anderson.

Happy Retirement Anne!

RMH Providence must bid farewell to one of our beloved staff members. Over the past 7 years, Anne Rothenberg has dedicated her kind energy to ensuring families feel welcome and safe. Often times, Anne was the first the first person to welcome new families into the House. As assistant House Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, Anne made certain our volunteer staff was managed with the utmost respect. Volunteering many hours herself, Anne has been one of the key organizers of our Annual Walk Festival. We wish her the best in her retirement.

Unique Valentine Gift Idea

Honor your loved ones this Valentine's Day with a Ronald McDonald House of Providence Valentine's Day card. These tribute cards make the perfect gift for your family, friends, teachers and everyone else.

Each card will be sent directly to the person you are honoring to announce your gift in their name. They will appreciate your thoughtful  gesture and your donation will help keep families together during illnesses and injuries.

Minimum of $5 donation per card. Choose from two designs.  For more information check out our website.

Walk & Gala Committee Members Needed

It's never too early to start talking about our Annual Walk Festival coming up May, 2012.  We are seeking energetic, creative people to compose the Walk Planning Committee.  This committee will focus on securing new Walk Sponsors and making the 2012 Walk the most successful Walk to date.

Also, we are thrilled to announce an exciting addition to our 2012 calendar of events.  On the evening of Saturday, November 3, we will host a Gala at the Ocean House.

We are looking for committee members to help plan our first Gala. The sub committees include sponsorship, volunteer, auction, entertainment & decor.

If you are interested in either event, please contact Nicole Anderson.

Thank You

The Uhrig Family wrote the following letter with gratitude and appreciation.

"I have been able to be near my baby while he was in the NICU.  Without you, this would not have been possible.  Myself and family want to say thank you and let you know the help you give is appreciated.

Thank you,

Uhrig Family"

The Foley family spent three weeks at RMH Providence in June, 2011.  During a visit from Georgia, six year old Conner experienced a serious accident resulting in major trauma to his heel. Ken Foley, Conner's father, posted the following update:

"Conner has a PawSox sticker on his helmet but we need a (Ronald McDonald) House of Providence sticker as well. Believe it or not Conner will be ready for Dixie League ball this season, he still has gape in his stride but he will correct that in time. Thanks again for being the best home away from home when a tragedy struck my family."

And we are happy to inform you that Connor has since received his lucky RMH Providence sticker as you can see.

Holiday Party

We would like to thank all who participated in our Annual Holiday party. The House was filled with over a hundred families and friends, past and present.

Guests enjoyed the ever famous cookie table and food prepared by Johnson & Wales University while listening to Holiday carols courtesy of Ms. Soares' Pilgrim High chorus.

Children excitedly divulged their Christmas lists to Santa while marveling at his North Pole workshop. Volunteer, Peg Hurson, considered every last detail in creating the perfect, polar workshop.

Check out photos from the Holiday Festivities.

Little Philanthropist

The Students of Wee Care Day Care in North Smithfield have been actively fundraising for RMH Providence for two years.  We love to see the little ones get involved in community service.  Between wish list donation and pop-tab collections, Wee Kids have been some our biggest, little supporters. Thank you.

We encourage schools to get involved with the House.  If you would like to learn more about getting your little ones involved in RMH Providence, please contact Nicole Anderson.
