Greetings from RMH Providence,

For those who are new to this email distribution, WELCOME. To our long time supporters, we hope you enjoy the latest news.  Our newsletter is the best way to stay informed and see the impact of your support, volunteer hours and in-kind donations.  With this collective support system, RMH Providence is able to keep families close to their hospitalized child.  Research proves that "healing happens together".

In this newsletter, you will find a recap of the Women's Classic, a Holiday invitation, a farewell message and much more.

Thank you Cardi's

The following is a message written by the Calmer family as a show of appreciation to one of our sponsors:

"Dear Cardi's,

I am the parent of a beautiful sixteen year old daughter, Isabelle, who has brain tumors and has been at Hasbro for over 90 long nights.  I am grateful that I am able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, in the room you have provided, when I travel from Connecticut to stay with Izzy and my wife.

Thank you.
Hal Calmer"
Women's Classic Recap

A big thank you goes out to our extended family, the RMH Providence Running Club, for another successful event.  The 3rd Annual Women's Classic raised over $25,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Providence. This money will go directly to help fulfill our mission, to provide a safe comfortable place for families of children being treated at local hospitals. To find out more about the race results, view photos or learn more about the RMH Running Club, please check out the website.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Supporters of RMH Providence came out early on November 1 to celebrate the opening of our two new guest rooms.  The rooms officially opened with Ronald McDonald's symbolic cut of the crimson ribbon.

This addition would not have been possible without support from Cardi's Furniture, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England, Champlin Foundations, Ocean State Charities Trust and the Shriners of RI.

Since the opening, we have had a full House.  To see photos of the new guest rooms check out our facebook page.
Have you stayed at the House?  We would LOVE to hear from YOU!

Tell us about your stay and share your family updates.  Send letters and/or photos to the House or complete our online form.  Any submissions may be used in our marketing materials and/or donation solicitation pieces.
Best Wishes Phyllis Pacheco

Phyllis Pacheco has recently stepped down as Resident Night Manager. We are all very sad to see her leave as she has been an important member of our family.  We thank Phyllis for her valuable contributions to the House and wish her the best in her future endeavors.

If you are interested in joining the RMH Providence staff, please review the Resident Night Manager position.
RISAFF "Cares Enough to Wear Pink"

During the week of October 25th, firefighters across the state wore pink to show their support for those battling cancer. Through sales of their pink T-shirts, RISAFF presented RMH Providence with a check for $11,120 equaling 50 percent of all proceeds.

We can not thank you enough for this tremendously generous donation.  To see more pictures from the day's events, check out our facebook page.
The Little Philanthropist

We receive many stories about kindhearted children who make it their mission to support RMH Providence.

At the mature age of 5, John Jessop decided he wanted to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.  He became aware of the organization during a visit to a local McDonald's. When John noticed the donation boxes at the register, he asked his mom, Tori, questions and what he learned sparked his passion for our mission... "he wanted to help families who have sick childen".  From that point, John made sure he did not got to McDonald's empty handed and would deposit his spare change in the RMHC donation box.

Today, 8 year old John, continuing in his charitable ways, developed a fundraiser.  With the help of his mom, John sent a letter to all their neighbors informing them that instead of gathering candy on Halloween, he planned to collect change for RMH Providence.

As other children headed out dressed in their Halloween costumes, John doned a RMH Providence shirt and baseball cap.  In lieu of a filling a trick-or-treat bag with candy, John had a RMHC poptab house that was quickly filled with change totaling $128.00 that he is donating to the House.

Thank you John...Way to go Little Philanthropist!!

Donor Appreciation Event

Thank you to Owen Heleen and The Rhode Island Foundation along with Hasbro, Inc. for hosting our First Donor Appreciation Event on November 18th.  Approximately 30 of our Major Donors came out to enjoy a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception, honoring their overwhelming generosity and support for the House.  RMH Providence, along with the families we serve, cannot thank our donors enough for their dedication to our mission.
