June 2010 Header
Greetings All,

It's hard to believe June is already here!  We hope you are enjoying the warmer weather.  This spring has proven to be a busy one here at the House.  In this newsletter you will find a recap of our very successful Walk Festival, up-coming events, guest and volunteer stories and a bitter-sweet farewell to a loved member of our staff who will be greatly missed!
Families Giving Back in Spa Fashion

Seven years ago, Sarah Rose and Jessica Anderson checked in to the Ronald McDonald House around the same time, after giving birth to their daughters prematurely.  Both Sarah and Jessica spent several months here, eventually going home with healthy babies who are now seven years old and thriving.  With gratitude, they  decided they wanted to"give back" to the House.

Sarah and Jessica remain friends and are now working for Arbonne International, a health and beauty products company for women.  Together they decided to host a Spa Night here at the House.  Along with six additional consultants from Arbonne and hair stylist Nichole Soares, the friends  sponsored our first "Spa Night" on May 4th.  Mom's, who were guests at the house, were treated to haircuts, facials, makeovers, and hand and foot massages all compliments of Arbonne consultants and Nichole.

The night was such a success that Sarah, Jessica and their fellow consultants from Arbonne would like to come back and do this on a regular basis.  Thanks to all involved.  You made some very tired Mom's very happy.
Thanks Zack Whelan!

Zackary Whelan's 4th Annual Lemonade Stand was a huge success! With the help of his cousin Hanna, Zack distributed fliers to 20 offices to promote his event.  Supported by his Uncle Rich, Zack worked the lemonade stand from 2:30pm, closing the doors at 6pm. Including a generous donation from his Uncle Rich and Zack's grandparents, approximately $325 was raised.  That must be some tremendous lemonade Zack!

In total, this young fundraiser brought in over $700 for the 2010 Walk and nearly $2,500 to date!!  Thank you Zack, we are all very proud of you!

The 2010 Walk Festival was a Huge Success!

Many thanks to all who participated in this year's 5k Walk.  It was a great day on many levels.  The weather allowed us to enjoy the walk and many family activities including the rock wall, face-painting and chain-saw wood sculpting, just to name a few.

As always, thank you to our presenting sponsor, Cardi's Furniture, for their continued support.  We would also like to recognize Leon & Barbara Goldstein for their generous gift to the Walk as well as Gannon & Scott for their Champion level sponsorship. In addition, a big thanks to Johnson & Wales for the wonderful breakfast preparation.

This year you helped to raise over $71,000 for the House!  We couldn't do this without your great efforts and continued support.
