The 2009 edition of South County Style Vacation Planner has arrived! South County Style features a 'rainbow' of beautiful photography. The 2009 South County Style Vacation Planner is sure to entice vacationers to come and enjoy our region for a day, a weekend, or a week any time of the year.

Thank you to the Exeter Job Corps students who became the best "Tourism Ambassadors" during the process of offloading this year's shipment of our 2009 edition of magazines for distribution throughout Rhode Island at information centers, TF Greene Airport, Kingston Station, URI, Convention Centers, travel shows and by direct mail nationally and internationally. Circulation also includes direct distribution to South County's feeder markets of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Please stop by our office in the Stedman Government Center on Tower Hill Road in Wakefield if you would like this year's edition to distribute to visitors this summer.
Style Unleashed!

The South County Tourism Council celebrated the first day of spring by hosting an open house reception for Style advertisers and friends in the Council offices at the Stedman Government Center on Tower Hill Road on Friday, March 20.

Advertisers were offered copies to distribute during the summer.  If you are an advertiser and were unable to attend the reception please stop by our office any time between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Socially Speaking...

The explosion of social networking has launched South County Tourism Council directly into MySpace, Twitter and Facebook!  The Council has been actively creating captivating tourism pages and "twittering" away promoting our eleven town region to millions of registered users of these social networking sites.

The latest marketing trends indicate "social media are the here and now.  Having a social identity has gone mainstream - in fact, the social Web looks like the American family every day."  A ComScore study, reported that in January 2009 "more than 50% of Facebook users and 44% of MySpace users are over 35 years old.  And, the single biggest age demographic in the Unites States on both sites is between 35 and 44 years old.  The fastest-growing segment on Facebook is over 55"!
Blooming Travel Writers

The Council greeted United Kingdom travel writers Angela Wilkinson and Robin Glover last summer during their South County stay where they were treated to a family-friendly, fun-filled itinerary.  This spring, the results of that visit graced a 7-page feature article in Baby Surrey, a UK family publication.  A special thank you to Jayne Panarello, RIEDC International Manager, Shelter Harbor Inn, and The Up River Caf, proving yet again, that working together really does make great things happen!
Celebrate South County

South County's million dollar tourism industry shifts into high gear with our 17th Annual "Celebrate South County Day...and the rest of the state" at the Rhode Island State House on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.  The event is the official kick-off of National Tourism Week - in true South County Style!  We hope you will join us in a taste of the best South County has to offer.
Helping Save Lives

The 5th Annual South County Tourism Council Blood Drive was held on Thursday, February 12 at the Stedman Government Center.  Karen Cooke, Marketing/Program Manager, coordinated the event, which generated 5 pints of blood that will benefit up to 15 people.  The total quantity of blood donated since 2004 is 61 pints, which has affected 177 people in Rhode Island!  We thank those individuals who gave so generously to help save lives.
