Does Swimming Make Children Smarter?

Researchers from Queensland are leading an international study on more than 10,000 children to consider whether their mental and physical development can be advanced by swimming lessons.

The study is focusing on problem-solving skills, linguistics, and physical and social development.

"We've only just done the first year of the study but already the indicators are suggesting that the children who have been in longer periods of time in early swimming do appear to be hitting those intellectual milestones, those physical milestones, earlier than children who aren't doing swimming," Professor Robyn Jorgensen said.

Addison Lee
Swimmer: Addison
Age: 4
Program: Nitro 2
Station: 6

Addison started with Nitro Swim School at age two in the Parent/Tot program with Miss Bonnie. She always showed a love and comfort for the water that was so special.

A year later, Addison began her journey in Nitro 1. This teeny girl blew us away when she passed four stations in her very first class!

This past August Addison celebrated her fourth birthday, and graduated into Nitro 2. She just recently conquered side-breathing and is continuing to improve everyday.

She's a wonderful kid, with amazing talent - we can't wait to where she goes from here!
