DISCOVERING STRINGS AND ORCHESTRAS

This American String Teachers Association project, supported by a grant from NAMM, encourages young students to participate in string and orchestra programs in their schools and communities. The program partners youth groups, with a focus on students in grades one through three, with volunteer string clinicians in a five-session workshop. ASTA is currently seeking string clinicians to volunteer their time and work with the students, materials provided by ASTA. ASTA is also seeking performers to donate or substantially discount tickets to public performances of string music. And finally, ASTA is seeking instrument shop owners to offer field trip tours to students in their area. If you are interested in donating your time or services, go to the Community Initiatives page at www.astaweb.com and fill out the downloadable volunteer forms, or contact Elizabeth Bookwalter, liz@astaweb.com, or Anne Clark, bclark@diodecom.net.
