Manhood Conference Set for September 29

Our friend Randy Stinson, who spoke at our March Iron Sharpens Iron Men's Conference, returns to the DC region Saturday September 29 from 9 am - 4 pm to keynote The Manhood Conference at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg MD. The one-day conference is open to all men from all churches.

A Word on the War Against Men...

 Last weekend the NY Times carried an Op-Ed piece entitled "Men, Who Needs Them?" My friend and colleague Leary Gates blogged his spot-on response HERE
I emailed Leary the following:
I read the Hampikian article last Friday and saw it as yet another assault by secular culture gatekeepers on biblical manhood. This ancient heresy has been wildly accelerating (with impunity) over the last six years or so. It's palpable...This particular article as insidious as it is shouldn't surprise us -- it's the latest visible manifestation of the war against God. BUT it and other such attacks should be moving us all to well up in righteous indignation and anger against the wimpy, flaccid non-engagement of the church and, yes, the Christian's men's movement. Brothers in Christ bonded together in the Gospel of God should be the bold, courageous phalanx going up against the counterfeit masculinity run amok and against the frontal assaults on the character and reputation of God. I'm deeply concerned many have become content with purveying tips and techniques, maxims and methodologies, bromides and blather akin to moral therapies rather than boldly proclaiming and teaching what is of "first importance" - the Gospel (1 Cor 15:3). We need to stop assuming the gospel is known and grasped by men (and its fruit savored) and to make it explicit by preaching it constantly, first to ourselves and then others. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." - Rom 1:16 |
