Men's Huddles, Not Just For Football
by Dave Brown
Many of you recognize the name Mike Singletary. He was a perennial all-pro linebacker for the Chicago Bears, two-time NFL defensive player of the year, NFL Hall of Famer, and currently head coach of the San football huddleFrancisco 49ers. Mike earned a reputation as a crushing tackler, a fierce force on the field and the heart and soul of the "Da Bears". Less known and infinitely more important, Mike Singletary is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

One time when asked what he missed most about pro football, he said it was getting into the huddle. It was a safe place where he could get direction, support and correction. It was a place where he could regroup for the next phase of the battle, knowing ten other guys were there to help him win. For away games in hostile stadiums, the huddle was the only refuge. It was the only place where he could get encouragement to keep going. READ MORE

Movies and Men
Four Movies to See in 2011
God calls men to take back stolen ground in the power of the Holy Spirit. That battle includes redeeming cinema and other arts from the corruption of sin.

There's been a recent surge in film making that's borrowing its themes from the biblical narrative. Stories of the battle between the forces of good and evil and the rescue of people from captivity and death such as The Lord of the Ring Trilogy and The Chronicles of Narnia, have resonated with wide audiences. Others such as Fireproof and Blind Side have found screen power in truth, grace and unconditional love.

From time to time WACMM highlights such movies that speak to men. Often we give a heads up about movies in production or scheduled for release (as we did last November with
Blind Side).

There are four movies coming out in 2011 to put on your list --
Courageous, The Grace Card, Hero and Golf's Sacred Journey. They are faith themed or have a biblical worldview and we believe they will resonate with many men because they present qualities and characteristics of authentic masculinity, which we call biblical manhood. To get more information about them and to view their trailers CLICK HERE. Also, check back with us again to also find out more about special pre-screenings we are planning in the Washington DC region in 2011.
