Don't Return to the Doghouse this Christmas!
dog house 2
Last year's JC Penny's funny  video, "Beware the Doghouse" carried a reminder to men about the gifts they buy their wives.This year's sequel, "Return to the Doghouse" reminds
 us what we say and give our wives could send us back to where we don't want to be.

The Real Meaning of Christmas by John MacArthur
Christmas
The story of the first Christmas is so beloved that singers and storytellers across the centuries have embellished and elaborated the story in celebration. However, most people now don't know which details are biblical and which are fabricated. People usually imagine the manger scene with snow, singing angels, many worshipers, and a little drummer boy. None of that is found in the biblical account.

Christmas has become the product of an odd mixture of pagan ideas, superstition, fanciful legends, and plain ignorance. Add to that the commercialization of Christmas by marketers and the politicization of Christmas in the culture wars, and you're left with one big mess. Let's try to sort it out. The place to begin is in God's Word, the Bible. Here we find not only the source of the original account of Christmas, but also God's commentary on it.  READ MORE

To Our Warriors in Afghanistan
Afghanistan
The Price of Freedom

Beginning this Christmas, an additional 30,000-plus Amerucan troops are being deployed in Afghanistan to fight for the freedom of their people. America has long fought for and defended freedom in our country and around the world, beginning with the Revolutionary War and continuing up to the present. Many other times since then, our country has fought for democracy and against tyranny. Over the last 200 years many countries around the world have been released from oppression because American troops were willing to pay the price for freedom. We have helped liberate millions of people.

Stand with Us in Ministry to Men

2009 has  marked the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Washington Area Coalition of Men's Ministries. Today WACMM is one of the largest and most innovative such coalitions in the country. This Summer New Man Magazine featured WACMM in this article.

In our first decade we have:
  • provided churches, men's leaders and individual men ministry resources and services at no charge;
  • helped  start and reinvigorate men's ministries;
  • mentored, counseled and discipled men of all ages and stages;
  • spoken at hundreds of churches and men's retreats and conferences about biblical manhood;
  • held various kinds of events attended by some 28,000 men.
In the last two years alone 3,000 men from nearly 250 churches in six states have experienced seven powerful Iron Sharpens Iron Conferences we've held in MD and VA..

Also in the last year our website has had over 13,000 visitors and 3,500 men are being  informed and resourced through our monthly e-newsletter.

One of the popular new resources we've developed is "Fireproof for Men Only Seminar" being presented to churches across the region. Barry from Springfield wrote us,

"It is well conceived, professionally prepared and presented, and will drive home several spiritual lessons which are important for every Christian man...I highly recommend the program..."

This year WACMM University has delivered  training  seminars attended by pastors and men's leaders from 58 regional churches representing over 17,000 men. God continues to expand our territory and give us exciting opportunities to minister to men and thereby impact secular Washington with the Gospel.

In 2010, we're planning new initiatives to:
  • launch "Radio WACMM" - an internet radio talk program dealing with everyday issues men face;
  • start breakfast outreaches to pastors in the Region;
  • sponsor a premiere showing of the new "Courageous" movie by the creators of Fireproof at local theaters;
  • hold our eighth Iron Sharpens Iron Conference October 2 at Mountain Christian Church in Joppa MD;
  • increase the number of Fireproof Seminars (and Retreats) and REM training seminars;
  • sponsor a 2 1/2 day "No Man Left Behind" training conference
While WACMM has no salaried staff, we nevertheless incur necessary  costs for office space and equipment, administrative overhead, ministry outreach activities, publishing and marketing, and extensive  travel. We rely on event income and generous donations to cover these mounting expenses as well as our new ministry initiatives.

We believe Godly men are foundational and that if you reach men you also impact marriages, families, churches and the culture. If you share that commitment with us and believe in what we're doing, you can partner with us by making a ministry gift by clicking HERE or writing a check  to "WACMM" and sending it to: WACMM, Box 2753, Springfield VA 22152.  All contributions are tax deductible.

As always we covet your prayers.
