"Praise the Lord & Pass the Ammo" November 7 at Region's Biggest Men's Gathering
"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" was a song published just after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It's about a chaplain who's prays for some men under fire by the
enemy. He then puts down his Bible, picks up a gun and begins firing back, as exhorts his men to, "Praise
the Lord and pass the ammunition".
We're all born on a spiritual battlefield and are under constant attack from an enemy determined to take us out. We cannot fight our battles alone; we need one another! So join us Saturday, November 7 at Cedarbrook Community Church in Clarksburg MD from 8:30 am-4:55 pm when we "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition of Praise, Worship, Prayer, Truth and Encouragement!

The Army that Shoots Its Officers
by Dr. Jack Elwood
In the not too distant past, the
church was described as the only army that shot its wounded. While it was and
is true that there was and is often a very ungracious form to church discipline
for sinful behavior, there is an even more pressing issue to the army of God.
We, the church, are struggling to recruit and retrain the best and brightest
for pastoral ministry because we keep shooting our best officers (pastors). READ MORE

Letters from Dad Initiative Launches October 13
What Legacy Are You Leaving Your Children?
South Potomac Church is hosting an open BBQ dinner at 6:30 pm on Tuesday October 13 to initiate Letters from Dads groups (LFG) in the DC area, Tickets are $8. Make your reservation at lyleandi@yahoo.com
or (301) 375-6288. Greg Vaughn, who was a keynoter at WACMM's Iron Sharpens Iron Conference in April,
had never been close with his dad. So after his dad died and Vaughn was
cleaning out the garage, he was surprised at the depth of his grief.
"The only thing I had left from my dad was an old tackle box and
silence." He continues, "I remember crying out to God, 'This is it?
This is all I get? I don't even have my father's signature!' "
That garage moment set in motion Vaughn's growing nationwide movement
to encourage men to write periodic letters to their children --- and
wives and parents --- leaving a legacy of blessing, affirmation, and
love. Greg's book and a LFD groups will show you how to write letters to your kids that leave a powerful legacy. |
