Need Some Encouragement? Who Doesn't!
Hezekiah spoke these reassuring words to the discouraged people of Jerusalem
during the siege of the city by the Assyrian King Sennacharib:
"Then he
set military captains over the people, gathered them together to him in
the open square of the city gate, and gave them encouragement saying,
'Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the
king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for
there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but
with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.' And
the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah" (2 Chron. 32:6-8).
Paul also reassures in Romans 8:31: "If God is for us, who is against us?" The Apostle John declares, "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1Jn 4:4). The bottom line is that our hope and strength to live each moment come not from our feelings that are always changing but from the Warrior King of the Universe - Christ Jesus - who is with us and for us!
