Men in the Movies

Fireproof, from the creators of Facing the Giants, arrives in theaters September 26. It tells the story of Caleb Holt, a fire chief in Albany Georgia, who while loved by the men he leads and regarded as a hometown hero, struggles in his relationship with his wife Catherine. After seven years of marriage, they've badly drifted apart. He turns to internet pornography and she pursues a relationship with a colleague. One day Caleb's dad presents him with a special challenge that sets him off to win back his wife's heart. Solid production and strong biblical message. Check out the Trailer HERE

Greetings!

With this new "Emale" format, we are seeking to share with you some of the things God is doing among men in the Washington DC Region as well as around the country. We'll bring you information about various churches, ministries and events as well as news you can use, feature articles about biblical manhood and resources to encourage and help equip you in your walk with Christ.

We welcome your comments and suggestions! If you do not wish to receive this communication on a periodic basis, you can unsubscribe at the bottom of the page.

FYI, Tom Joyce, Pastor of Family and Discipleship at Immanuel Bible Church and member of the WACMM Leadership Team, is undergoing major surgery September 2. Recuperation may take as long as three months. Please keep Tom and his wife Deshua in your prayers.
Foundation for Manhood Created

The WACMM-sponsored
Stand in the Gap 2007 on the National Mall last October drew 20,000 men from across the country. One of its legacies is the Foundation for Manhood, which was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization this Summer. The Foundation will:Manhood Foundation 3
  • be the trustee for Stand in the Gap 2017 and the seventh year of every decade thereafter;
  • operate the Christian Men's Wall of Honor, the world's largest tribute website to honor faithful Christian men all over the world;
  • engage the culture on behalf of biblical manhood from Hollywood to HBO to Harvard. This will be the first and only advocacy organization for authentic masculinity in the culture.
The Wall of Honor will be premiered at this Fall's National Coalition of Men's Ministry's Leadership meeting in Minneapolis. If you're interested in knowing more about the Foundation or the Wall specifically, let us know.

Two of the best men's speakers in the country - Rick Rigsby and Bill Perkins - will keynote morning and afternoon sessions. Eighteen different workshops led by national and regional ministry experts will address topics relevant to men of all ages and stages. Dozens of exhibitors will be there to resource men for ministry and life. Plus The Pastors Band - made up of local area pastors - will be leading worship.

$39 per man registering in groups of ten or more
$20 for men 13-24 years old
$20 for active duty military

To register or for more information, go to www.wacmm.org Also contact us for a special promotional packet for your church or small group. Why bring a friend, neighbor, work buddy, your son or your father with you to ISI? Here are some facts to think and pray about:

  • 95% of men who attend a conference make a life changing decision
  • 60% get connected to a small group
  • 25% make a first decision for Christ
Nearly 1,800 laymen, ministry leaders and pastors from 98 churches in five Mid-Atlantic states have joined us in Virginia and Maryland at our Iron Sharpens Iron Conferences! Men's lives were changed! One man told us it was perhaps the most important day in his spiritual life. New men's ministries have been formed; others were taken to a whole new level.

Join us November 1 at Christian Fellowship to experience the special camaraderie we have in Christ - a bond that transcends geography, denomination, race, age and stage of life. Help us to inform, invite and mobilize men in your sphere of influence!

Plans Discussed for Iron Sharpens Iron in Africa
Rwanda ISIFaith in the Family International President and WACMM co-founder Marty Granger and Guy Kleintop, local businessman and WACCM Leadership Team member, traveled to Rwanda July  22 - August 3 as members of a "Men on a Mission" team from Immanuel Bible and Gateway Bible Church. The team consisted of one man from Korea, one from Honduras, three from Bolivia, one former Congressman and mayor of Dallas Texas, two business owners, four retirees from the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, five musicians, two photographers, one pastor, one high school seniors, two doctorates, and two computer gurus. While there, the team presented a men's conference (called "Time to Rebuild") to nearly 100 Rwandan men at Africa New Life Bible Church. Groundwork is being prepared to return in 2010 for a first-ever Iron Sharpens Iron Conference in a 8,000 seat arena.

What is WACMM?
(aka: wack-em, wake-em or walk-em)
Whole Crew Banner

Started in 1999 by a group of pastors and men's leaders with a passion to minister to men in local churches, the Washington Area Coalition of Men's Ministries (WACMM) is a non-profit, non-denominational, training, speaking, consulting and event-sponsoring ministry. Our purpose is to help pastors and men's leaders to minister to men in the mid-Atlantic Region.

WACMM has led retreats, seminars, workshops and sponsored major events for men of the Mid-Atlantic and across America. Such gatherings have included Stu Weber in Conference, John Eldredge at the DC Convention Center, Closing the Gap DC Region Men's Rallies 2000, 2001 & 2004, Men First Conference with author David Murrow, the 2004 National Coalition of Men's Ministries Annual Conference, Breakfasts with Coach Joe Gibbs, Stand in the Gap 2007 on the National Mall, and four ISI Conferences in 2007-8.

WACMM is also the founding ministry of the Christian Men's Wall of Honor and the Foundation for Manhood. The Leadership Team includes Dave Brown, Marty Granger, Tom Joyce, Guy Kleintop, Bob Kelley, Frank Qualls, John Meyer, Tony Dronkers, Dr. Jack Elwood, and Chris Van Brocklin.
