Thursday Night Lights Results
August 26, 2010
Big doings at the NSC Velodrome Thursday night. Due to recent rain-outs, three state championships were on the schedule. It was a veritable Points Race Festival!

Sponsored Race Feature - PENN Cycle Points Race/Category 1/2/3 State Points Race Championship
The Minnesota State Championship Points race (80 laps, sprints every 10 laps) was a thrilling affair with several riders collecting sprint points. The field stayed well-grouped throughout the race forcing riders to battle for position at each intermediate sprint.  Nearly every attack was neutralized before it gained any traction, keeping the endurance riders from escaping the field.  The sprints emerged from the pack at each intermediate point as riders eyed each other warily.  Andy Kruse (Speedfix Racing p/b Zubaz) took first or second place points in nearly every sprint sealing the victory.  Pat Lemieux (Texas Roadhouse) captured several 1st and 2nd place sprints for a solid 2nd place and junior racer Jordan Cullen (Flanders) took 3rd place only a month after upgrading from the Cat 4/5 field.

Track Rider of the Year Standings
Men
With only two more sessions left in the 2010 Thursday Night Lights season, Andy Kruse has a commanding lead in the men's Track Rider of the Year competition.  The contest for the remaining podium spots remains close, however.  Only 5 points separate Chris Ferris (PJW Racing), Dan Schueller (Gopher Wheelmen) and Colton Barrett (Texas Roadhouse) in the race for 2nd and 3rd, with Schueller and Barrett tied for 3rd.

Women
The women's Track Rider of the Year battle has showcased emerging powerhouse rider Terra James (Behind Bars/LGR).  James has a 41 point lead over Emma Bast (Bianchi/GP).  Melissa Dahlmann (unattached) and Linsey Hamilton (Synergy) are currently tied for 3rd, followed closely by Bianca Bergman (Texas Roadhouse).
