Kruse/Vig Take Madison State Championship
The final Cat 1/2 race of the evening was the 80-lap Madison for the 2010 Minnesota State Championship and included qualified Cat 3 racers. The event proved to be a Speedfix showcase, with teammates Andy Kruse and Sean Vig making a strong statement.  The first 10 laps were conducted at a leisurely pace while teams got in to the "swing" of the race. With 66 laps to go, the race opened up. To the end, it was dominated by Kruse and Vig. The final standings were a function of the laps taken and the sprint points ended up being inconsequential. The team of  Dan Schueller (Gopher Wheelmen) and Chris Ferris (PJW Racing) were able to hang in with Kruse/Vig until they began to lag with 55 laps to go and were lapped with 50 to go and then again with 5 laps to go. The final standings based on laps behind were Kruse/Vig followed by Schueller/Ferris. The remaining teams were several laps behind.
Lutsky Takes Category 4/5 State Championship Scratch Race
In the Category 4/5 MN State Championship 40-lap scratch race Aaron Koehler (Flat City Cycling) launched several early attacks, all of which were neutralized. With 16 laps to go a group of 9 led the race which was whittled to 6 with 10 laps to go. With 2 laps to go, Kevin Lennon (MN Cycling Team) upped the pace taking John McGuire (unattached) and Jeff Anderson (Loon State Cycling).  In a furious final lap, MCguire and Eric Ware (MN Cycling Team) charged to the front but were bested by a charging Merrill Lutsky (Silver Cycling) in the final turn. Ware held on for 2nd followed by McGuire, Anderson and Koehler.
Ferris, Kelly, Pribble  Crowned State Match Sprint Champions
Chris Ferris narrowly edged Ted Schmidt (Speedfix Racing) in two very tight heats to win the MN State Match Sprint Championship on Monday night.  Mike Pribble (Silver Cycling) won his first track state championship, defeating Chris Verbick (Gopher Wheelmen) in the Gold Medal round.  Megan Kelly (Gopher Wheelmen) rounded out the state champions, winning the women's crown.
OSI To Offer Assessments During Structured Training
Monday, August 16
OSI LogoNext Monday, 8/16, OSI Physical Therapy's Lauren Loberg, a physical therapist and the NSC Velodrome's regular first aid provider, will offer strength, flexibility, and biomechanical assessment of any interested NSC Velodrome riders to assess any imbalances that could affect performance or injury on the bike.  She will do most of the testing off of the bike and give the athlete recommendations of ways to correct for any found imbalances both on and off the bike. For example, she may provide examples of exercises needed or postural changes/ bike fit changes that would be ideal for their body.  Also, if any athletes have any questions regarding any injuries she will offer suggestions.
