James Crowned Women's State Keirin Champion

Six finalists progressed from two heats to the final of the 2010 Women's Minnesota State Keirin Champion -ship. Terra James (Behind Bars/Little Guy Racing) took the motorcycle wheel ahead of a tightly packed bunch. She held her lead when the motorcycle left the track with 2.5 laps to go, but Bianca Bergman (Texas Roadhouse) immediately moved from sixth position to the front, forcing Linsey Hamilton (Synergy) to move past James into the lead. At the bell, James, Elena Dorr (Verve Racing) and Emma Bast (Bianchi/Grand Performance) attacked from the back but were held off by Hamilton. In the last turn, James punched through the group and won by a nose over Dorr and Hamilton in a bunch sprint finish.
VeloKids Show Their SkillsSeven VeloKids Cycling Program participants thrilled the crowd with their riding skills in two sets of exhibition races. The first races featured two racers battling the clock in 2-lap pursuits. These races showcased each rider's speed and bike handling skills and ended in very close finishes. The second race, the 2-lap Handicap race, saw the racers start in staggered positions around the track, equalizing the abilities of young and old. In a photo finish, 4 of the 6 racers crossed the finish line nearly simultaneously! We look forward to having these racers join the Future Stars Racing Program as they grow.

Two State Championships On Tap
Thursday, August 5 This Thursday, racing will be fast and furious with two state championship races in the schedule. The Cat 1/2 men will race for the Madison State Championship and the Cat 4/5 men will contest the State Championship Scratch Race. |
