Opening Night is Finally Here!
Thursday, May 20 marks the first race of the 20th Anniversary season of Thursday Night Lights! Come out and cheer on your favorite racers as they kick off the season under the lights in Blaine. This season will feature lots of exciting racing in all categories. Who will take the Track Rider of the Year crowns left vacant by the departures of Brian Crosby and Heidi Dahlmann? Who will win the season-long race series?

Fun and Games at the Track
We hope you'll join us for all the thrilling action this summer. Not only do we have the fastest sport on two wheels, but we have a wide range of fun and games for the whole family as well. Be sure to join us for dinner at the Track Shack concession stand. We'll keep the hot dogs, hamburgers and Peace Coffee hot for you. If you want a little cooling off, we have great cold drinks and Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream. And don't forget to pick up our 2010 souvenir t-shirt or track jacket from Twin Six (coming next week).
You'll be right in the action by playing our race games, too. The Buca Blaster, Chili's Hot Race, Chipotle Wild Race and Coldstone Creamery Warm Up give fans the chance to pick the winning racer. If you pick the winner and get a little bit lucky, your name could be drawn for a gift certificate from these great sponsors. So watch the action and choose your champion carefully! |

Fixed Gear Classic Host Housing Needed
Event runs June 11-13, 2010
The NSC Velodrome is hosting the MN Fixed Gear Classic again this year as part of the Nature Valley Bicycle Festival. Top professional and elite amateur racers from around the world will once again turn their pedals in anger on the hardwood in Blaine. Many of these racers depend on host housing to make travel affordable. We need your help! If you have an extra room, bed, fold-out couch or floor space, these racers would make great house guests. Track racing 101
Track Rider of the Year Scoring
Each year, the top-ranked woman and man at the NSC Velodrome are awarded the Track Rider of the Year award. Watch for these riders wearing the yellow #1 all season long. The TROY competition tallies points from each night of racing. It's a test of skill, speed and perseverance. Points are awarded as follows:
The top 6 finishers in each Thursday Night Lights race will receive points, with 6 points for first place and 1 point for 6th. For fields less than 12, half the finishers will be awarded points with odd-numbered fields being rounded up to the next even number. A racer's best 30 races will be tallied for his or her TROY standings.
The TROY competition is open to all Cat 1/2 men and women in all categories. Cat 3 men may earn TROY points if they race in a Cat 1/2 event. Madison team members each receive full points for their finishing place. |
