May 20 is opening night and we're anxious to roll 'em off. Training has started and the velodrome is open from 4-dark during the week and from 11-3 on Saturdays. The May training class still has a couple of open slots, so now's your chance to learn to ride the hardwood. Aspiring new racers can also learn more about the sport at the MN Cycling Federation's new website www.startbikeracing.com.  You'll find lots of great training info, details about equipment, skills and much more there. Check it out and join the peloton!

New for 2010, the ArtJersey Queen of the Sprints showcases the fastest ladies on the track in fast and furious Sprint and Keirin events on 6 nights throughout the season.  It is open to all women racers.  ArtJersey will be on hand during those events so check out their high quality, limited edition art jerseys and play the Match Game for a chance to win a free jersey of your choice.

The NSC Velodrome is proud to welcome The Bikery, Stillwater's hippest bike shop/bakery, as the 2010 sponsor of the Women's Scratch Race series.  Scratch races are the purest form of track race.  The first racer over the line wins.  Here's hoping The Bikery brings some goodies on race nights!

The PENN Cycle Points race series encompasses six events throughout the Thursday Night Lights racing series. It is open to Cat 1/2/3 racers and includes the State Championship Points Race. PENN Cycle will again be providing prizes for individual race winners and the series winner this season.

Back for another season of speed, the Salsa King of the Sprints series harnesses the raw power of the sprinters.  The big, bad boys on the track will turn their pedals in anger 6 times throughout the summer in Sprints and Keirins.  The series is open to Cat 1/2 racers.

The VeloKids Riding Program returns for 2010.  Kids ages 9-12 will learn to ride the velodrome and gain valuable bicycling skills in a 4-week series of fun, active classes. At the end of the 4-week session, kids will be able to ride the track confidently. 

Best of all, they'll get to show off their new skills in front of a packed Thursday Night Lights house!  Kids of all cycling ability levels are welcome.  Participants should bring comfortable, active clothes (shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoe) and a helmet of course.  We have a few helmets if kids don't have one of their own.
