World-Class Track Cycling Returns to Velodrome
 Some of the hottest cycling in nearly a decade dazzled spectators at the MN Fixed Gear Classic, June 7-8. Two record-setting performances by Italian Olympian Roberto Chiappa crowned the event at the NSC Velodrome. Chiappa's 10.575 second time in the Flying 200 meters on Saturday broke Olympic Gold Medalist Marty Nothstein's 15-year old record of 10.6 seconds. Later that day, he set another NSC Velodrome record with a 13.15 second time in the Flying 250 meter invitiational. A strong field of 25 men and 16 women battled in a variety of races, chasing a total prize package of $5,000. Capacity crowds witnessed spectacular racing in near-perfect weather as local heroes went wheel-to-wheel with some of the world's best cyclists in this prelude to the Great River Energy Bicycle Festival.
