  • Schwan’s USA CUP - A Year Round Effort

All year, volunteers work to get ready for Schwan’s USA CUP. The steering committee members are: Paul Beggin, Matt Koehn, Larry Ragland (scheduling and scoring); Scott Hughes (bike corps); Dawn Jabas (logistics); LuAnn Wingard, Susie Ragland, Sandy Campbell (homestay); Aaron and Kelly Vanderwall (college coaches); Debbie and Dick Wolfe (airport greeters); Dr. Steve Elias, Bill Neiss, Gary Leafblad (medical); Roy Evans, Bill Roll (referees); Paul and Nancy Terry (radio operations); Gina Poretti, Carol Arntzen, Kris Nelson, Mark Gamm (field services); Bev Menk, Vicki Barnes (VIP center); Anna Gierke (guest players), Tom Spindler, Dan Barnes (gift packing); Sha Leahey, Bev Gudrais (registration and check in); Colleen Bourdon (translators, ranking and international teams), Barclay Kruse (event ceremonies) and Teri Vogt (tournament director)

If you would like to help out with USA CUP, please email tvogt@usacup.org and express your interest. More than 1,000 volunteers are scheduled each year in various capacities and USA CUP needs and wants your help.

Areas that are particularly in need of help:
Event ceremonies: For folks who like adrenaline and big events. Responsibilities will include attending one or two meetings to brainstorm event ideas – parade, special effects, ceremonial start to the games, music, script – new ideas keep the event fresh each year. Also expect a daylong commitment on Monday, July 16 from noon-9 p.m.

Field Services: Field managers who can work a whole day or more are the best kind. This position is great for soccer lovers, and people who want a lot of people interaction. It’s fun, social and key to the event's success.

Coaches' entertainment: Schwan’s USA CUP loves coaches and wants to make sure that they are properly recognized for their role in attracting teams to the tournament. This group organizes special events just for coaches – parties, coaches’ games and coaches’ perks.

For all volunteers, PUMA® will provide stylish volunteer uniforms for free.
