Greetings!
As we head into the second half of May, our thoughts turn to summer arts festivals. Here in Colorado we are fortunate to have (usually) great weather and great turnout for our many outdoor shows. If you are attending any shows in Colorado this summer/fall, let us know where you'll be and we'll try to stop by to see you - and, as always, we invite you to stop by Fine Print while you are in the area!
As a reminder, summer tends to be our more busy season - please allow plenty of time when placing orders and be sure to let us know if you need the prints for an upcoming show - that way we can be sure you get your prints in time.
If you have negatives on file with us, you might consider switching some of them over to digital during our negative scanning special. With a digital file you have so many more options to choose from - canvas, fine art papers - and more control over color and contrast. Check out our "Renew Your Image" special for all the details!

|
| © Mary Giacomini |
Spring is the time for renewal - and here's a great opportunity to
renew some of your older images.
Have old internegatives (4x5 negatives
made from slides or transparencies), copy negatives (4x5 art copy
negatives) or original negatives on file here at Fine Print? Wonder how
they'd print out on one of our fine art papers or canvas? Or just
curious to see how digital photo printing can improve color or contrast
issues? Want to give your old images a new lease on life?
Well, now's your chance! During our Spring Renewal
special, we're offering a 50% discount on premier scans from
any internegatives, copy negatives or original negatives you
have on file with us.
We've got some great work languishing in our files
- now is a great time to breathe new life into your old traditionally
photo printed images without breaking the bank.

Meet the Staff: Mark James
|
| Mark James | Printing Technician, Scanner, Pinhole Photographer, B&W Expert
and Canvas Finisher
"I started at Fine Print about 12 or 13 years ago depending on who
you talk to and how they reckon the passage of time." (You see... Mark
worked here for a period of time, left for another job and then within a
year, came back to Fine Print, finally realizing just how good he had
it here!)
"Fine Print has been a good fit for me because I discovered
early in life that I had little aptitude for restaurant work, am
profoundly visual, needed to live near the mountains, and like to be
surrounded by creative individuals."
There isn't much Mark hasn't done in his time at Fine Print.
As he says, "In some ways, you could say that I'm a regular Renaissance
Man with a hand in just about everything which is just fine since I
like variety in my day." He has spotted prints, done traditional and
digital printing, shipped, made frames, stretched canvas, scanned
transparencies and negatives... the list goes on.
Like everyone at Fine Print, Mark is committed to excellence.
"The challenge for me is to achieve a high level of quality,
precision, and consistency in everything I do while keeping my obsessive
compulsive tendencies in check. I like to get things right the first
time and avoid costly or wasteful mistakes. On balance, I strive to
apply the same standards to Fine Print clients as I do for my own work
and anyone who knows me knows that I like perfection."
Mark is one of
the nation's top B&W darkroom printers (he does this from his home
in his spare time) and is a highly regarded pinhole photographer as
well.

Your Most Frequently Asked Questions
|
| © Annette Capps | The world of digital imaging is always changing. That's one of the
reasons we provide our Frequently Asked Questions page. The other is
that we want to provide you with info that will maximize your success
with Fine Print Imaging. We are very easy to work with. Honest!
But communicating something as intangible as how to change a
color or enhance areas of your image takes knowledge and patience - on
both our parts! If you don't have all of the information - the correct
information - at your finger tips, it makes communication that much
more difficult.
Check out the FAQ page on our website - here we have answered your most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn't answered here, give us a call and we'll be happy to chat with you! 800-777-1141.

science initiatives." said Lukes. "That's why we're looking for the trail blazers and story tellers who
stand out from all the rest."
The Art for Conservation grant will be awarded annually to a
photographer or artist who is using their imagery to deliver a
compelling conservation message.
Grant applications will close on June 30, 2010 and the winner will be

Keep Your Art Safe!
|
| © Rick Bainbridge | Your originals are our most valuable possession. Really! Without
your artwork, we cannot make prints. So trust us when we say that we
treat your artwork as if it is our own.
You have a part in the safety of your art as well. Following
the the shipping guidelines below will help insure that your work
arrives at Fine Print Imaging safe and sound.
When Shipping
Wrap your art in a protective layer like art tissue or
glassine paper. If packing more than one original, wrap them
separately. Since the material is being used only for transport, it
does not need to be archival or acid free.
Place a second wrapping material like Kraft wrap around the
artwork and secure with masking tape.
Sandwich the art between two sheets of a stiff material
like cardboard or mount board which is at least 2 inches larger than
the wrapped original. Securely tape the cardboard around the ends so
that the original is safely covered by the cardboard and the corners of
the original are protected from impact damage.
Place the covered artwork in a cardboard box which is close
to the size of the cardboard wrapped artwork. Place additional padding
material in the box to make sure that the art fits snugly. Wrapping
the art in bubble wrap is not necessary. What protects artwork from
damage is over-sized cardboard layers and having the art fit snugly in
the box. Continue reading...
