Greetings!
The theme of this issue is Yes, You Can!
You CAN be a "normal photographer" and get an exhibit of your work at an art museum! We recently completed the printing of Michael Forsberg's traveling photo exhibit - "The Great Plains" (currently at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska - see my article below).
You CAN afford canvas gallery wraps...we've added a great new special which runs today through the end of the month - a big 20% off the price of 11x14 and larger canvas gallery wraps.
And...you CAN (drum roll please!) get more of your original paintings and film ready for printing. Wait til you see what we've done to our scanning (drum and art copy) prices!
That and a whole lot more of things you CAN do are in store for you ... read on!

New! Lower Prices on All Scans!
|
|
Recently we sent out a survey to all of our customers and several things became readily apparent...
1.) You like us! You really like us! (That's good to know! We like you, too!)
2.) You wish we could relocate to name-your-town.(Yeah, we wish we could too.)
3.) Overwhelmingly, you love our products and services, but the economy has hit you pretty hard. (We hear you!)
4.) You know our art copy and drum scans are the best out there...but you just can't afford to have as many done as you'd like. (We think we can help!)
You see, the thing is, we'd love to see more of your work! We want you to start with the best scans so we can create the best prints. So we're doing something crazy and we're hoping it works.
We're lowering our art copy scan pricing by about 30% - you can now get a high resolution scan of up to a 30x40 painting for only $30!
If you want us to do the color work and proofing for you, prices start at $55 for artwork up to 30x40!
We've also lowered the cost of our raw and premier drum scans for film - raw scans start at $30 and premier scans start at $45!

Michael Forsberg's "Great Plains" Exhibit
|
|
by Kate Dardine
I recently (this past weekend, in fact) had the opportunity to travel to Omaha, Nebraska to see Michael Forsberg's photographic exhibition on the Great Plains of North America. The exhibit is currently on display through May 16 at the Joslyn Museum of Art.
Since Fine Print was privileged to do the printing for this show, I had seen the images as they they were being carefully packaged in large, custom made crates for the trip across Nebraska.
I have often remarked that Michael's wildlife images remind me of the paintings of Robert Bateman; he is able to capture not only a "picture" of the animal but the spirit and essence of the animal as well. And his landscapes elevate what is considered by some to be "boring scenery" to a visceral experience where you can almost feel the wind and smell the sages and grasses.
But nothing prepared me for the experience of seeing these images in a museum setting, each piece perfectly lit, silence lending a feeling a reverence (except when my 10 month old grandson added his gleeful shrieks!).
This exhibit is a masterful body of work - and will be traveling from Omaha to other parts of the country. (Click link below to find out where you can see it.) If you can't make it to see the exhibit, then I highly recommend purchasing the book - all the images (and more) are there - plus you get Michael's wonderful insight into the wildlife and the land that he so passionately cares about.

YES YOU CAN!

Can you really sell your art on the Internet? The answer is YES...IF.by Kate Dardine One of the biggest misconceptions artists (for the sake of this
article, photographers and other 2-D artists will be lumped together
under the umbrella term "artist.") have is that by having a website, or
joining an "online gallery" such as Art for Conservation
or other online galleries, that sales will just "happen." There seems
to be a thought process that goes something like, "I put my images 'out
there' - now all I have to do is sit back and wait for the buyers to
buy!" You could be waiting a long time. With all the images "out there"
on the internet, what is going to make a potential purchaser find YOUR
art? For those of you who have read my posts before, you know my
mantra. The internet is not a magic bullet. Tried and true marketing
techniques still come into play. And as much as all of us would like to
be able to just create and let "someone else" handle the marketing aspect, the truth is that it is up to you, the artist, to create the buzz about your work that will lead to sales. So how do you create a buzz? ( Continue reading...)
