Greetings!

September has arrived here on the Colorado front range with warm, sunny days and cool nights. The sound of the leaves rustling in the breeze has changed to a dryer, crisper sound. In some areas the trees are beginning to blush with autumn's glow.

With autumn comes preparation; it is the time of harvest, canning, putting up stores for winter. And it is also the time to begin preparation for Holiday Art shows. This month we're running our popular Mini-Giclée special. With each mini giclée costing you under $3, you can even frame them up and offer buyers a great gift item for under $50.

This month's issue of Expressions is filled with lots of great info - you'll want to read it from top to bottom!

Jump Start Your Holiday Sales

with petite versions of your larger giclée prints

Once again, Fine Print is offering its popular Mini Giclées for a limited time only. Mini Giclées are petite versions of your larger prints which can be sold as perfect Holiday gifts or sent as samples to galleries and collectors to give them a hands-on sample of the quality of printing as well as the beauty of the image.

During this special, which runs from now until September 30, 2009, you can order Mini Giclée packages for any images you have already proofed either on canvas or watercolor paper.

Here's what you need to know:

  • The quantity of minis you will receive will vary depending on the proportion of your original and the size you wish to have them printed.
  • The smallest we recommend is 4x5, the largest we will allow is 5x7.
  • Each package contains approximately 1500 square inches which figures out to roughly 45 - 4x6 prints, 55 - 4x5 prints or 30 -5x7 prints.
  • All images will have a 1/4" border.
  • The sheets will be trimmed into manageable sizes; trimming individual images is up to you.
  • Please allow two weeks in house for processing your order from previously proofed images.
  • If you are sending in a new image, allow approximately two weeks extra for art copy and proofing - additional charges will apply.
  • Remember to allow for shipping time!

The cost?

$109 for Mini Giclées on watercolor paper (regularly $165 - $195) and $129 for Mini Giclées on canvas (regularly $195).

The fine print?
  • Each 1500 square inch "package" must be of the same image, same size.
  • The minis must be run on the same substrate as they were proofed on; no switching canvas to watercolor paper or vice versa.
  • Because of the nature of this deal, no reprints will be allowed.
  • If you are ordering canvas Minis, we recommend going with the larger size, approximately 5x7, to best show off your image.

To order, call Customer Service at 800.777.1141.

It's that easy! We'll even help you figure out sizes and quantities. Don't delay, especially if you are thinking about the upcoming holidays!

With three-quarters of the world's 36 wildcat species weighing less than 45 pounds, endangered species artist Rochelle Mason reveals the beauty of these undiscovered and undervalued felines with her newest series of paintings, entitled "Wildcats of the World." From water-loving wildcats in Southeast Asia to desert-dwellers in North Africa, many of these small wildcats have never been studied in the wild. Meanwhile, their populations are increasingly challenged with rapidly-disappearing habitats.

Whether interest lies in cats or conservation or both, the connection formed between those doing the looking and those being looked at increases the likelihood of concern for and interest in these unique wildcats. With complimentary, lively, loose backgrounds, Rochelle captures not only the cat's exquisite beauty but also its essence, emanating qualities all cat people are familiar with.

Gallery Seeking Submissions

AFC looking to add to international gallery

After months (and months and months) of wavering between agony and ecstasy, Fine Print Imaging has launched our renewed, re-energized and re-focused website, Art for Conservation. Combining the cultural and environmental conservation efforts of the old Art for Conservation site with the Art and Photography gallery of (the now defunct) Fine Print Collection site, AFC is a multi-dimensional, active and vibrant site whose guiding vision is to use Art to promote and help support conservation efforts - from grass-roots to international.

We are now accepting submissions by artists and photographers who would like to sell prints of their work through Art for Conservation. Although the main identity of the gallery is conservation, photographers and artists who would like to help make a difference can submit work in any genre - as long as they agree to donate at least 1% of their sales to a conservation organization of their choice.

What's All This Fuss About Frogs?

and why do we need 'em anyway?
© Morgan Heim

As Roseanne Rosanadana would say, "What's all this fuss about frogs?" Uh no, not frogs, Roseanne. Blogs. Seems like every where you turn, either someone is either talking about or writing about blogs. Even we at Fine Print are dipping our toes into the still unfamiliar waters. We know, blogs have been around for a relatively long time. But heck, we're VISUAL people here! We work with VISUAL people. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. But in today's viral internet market place, a well-written and informative blog can put your name - and expertise - in front of hundreds or even thousands of potential buyers for your images.

Dexter's Monthly Wag

Tips from Dexter, the Fine Print Labradoodle.
Dexter

Tip #1: If you order canvas giclées un-stretched, Dexter recommends that you stretch them within a week or so of getting them. Why? Once the aqueous coating dries thoroughly, it loses some of its elasticity, which may cause it to crack at the edges when you pull it tight over the stretcher bars. If you don't think you'll have time to stretch it within that time frame, Dexter says Fine Print Imaging does a great job and can stretch on 1-1/2" bars or 5/8" bars. He thinks you should call Mike or Greg (800.777.1141) for more information on Fine Print's canvas stretching services!

Tip #2: If you want to make human people laugh, run after a ball at full speed on a slippery floor and then try to stop before hitting the wall. Your legs will fly out in all directions and you'll look ridiculous. For some reason, this amuses humans over and over, and they'll likely give you a treat. Maybe two if you actually come up holding the ball in your mouth. Maybe three if you hit the wall, bounce up onto your feet AND hold the ball in your mouth.

You create. We print. It's the perfect partnership.
