Greetings!
Last week we weathered near blizzard
conditions with 12 inches of snow which
forced us to close down early on Thursday.
Then three days of 50+ temperatures. And now,
wind, wind and more wind which is supposed to
bring in more snow. How's that for Spring in
Colorado?
If you would like updates on things like snow
closings, one day specials, tidbits about the
people who work at Fine Print - or the people
who we work for (that's YOU!), follow us
on Twitter. Yep, Fine Print Tweets.
We also have a presence on Facebook - You
can learn more about our conservation efforts

This month, take advantage of our SCAN-tastic

Raw VS Premier Scans
|
|
What's the difference?
· Raw scans are for those of you who
want to do your own color work for printing
or just need a high resolution file of your
artwork - but don't want prints.
Our raw
scans are sharpened and color-corrected to
remove any color-casts. They are not
color-worked or contrast-adjusted for
printing. Your raw scan might not color match
your original exactly and may appear flat.
This is because we scan to get the most
information possible so that you have all
highlights and lowlights to start with when
adjusting the scan to fit your needs.
We don't archive raw scans - you
will get the file(s) burned onto a CD. If you
decide to print in the future, you will need
to provide us with either the raw file and
the original (if available so we can
color-work the file and proof it on the
substrate of your choice) or, if you do your
own color-work, you'll need to provide us
with the color-worked files, prepared
according to our specifications for
printing.
· Premier scans are for those of you
who do not want to mess with trying to color
work your own files and who can foresee a
time when they will want prints from their
file(s).
Premier scans include
color-working and contrast-adjusting
the file for printing and an 8x10 or 16x20
proof on the substrate of your choice and
on site file archiving. And, since we already
have your original here, it makes sense to
have us do the color-work now. If having your
print match as closely as possible to your
original artwork or film is very important to
you, choose our premier scan!

confused? Give us a call and we'll be happy
to answer your questions. 800.777.1141

The "tropical western wildlife" of Sarah Rogers
Many of artist Sarah Rogers' subjects -
wolves, bears, crows, horses - are familiar
to her rural Wyoming neighbors; but the
vibrant colors spring entirely from her
imagination. The result has been described as
"tropical western wildlife".
Sarah's medium is watercolor, usually
combined with graphite. She frequently
applies several layers of heavy color to
create the bright tones and often opaque
quality of the paint. She prefers smooth
surfaces and uses hot pressed paper or plate
smooth illustration board.

Fine Print Customer Showcased at Kentucky Horse Park
|
|
International equine photographer Scott Trees
March 2009, Lexington, Kentucky, USA:
Kentucky Horse Parks famed International
Museum of the Horse will present equine
photographer Scott Trees as their featured
artist for the spring season of 2009. Known
around the world for his dramatic portrayal
of the horses he photographs, this show
promises to offer some spectacular imagery.
Entitled "Because of Horses," the show is a
compilation of photographs created during his
international travels.
Says Trees, "Because of horses, I have
traveled the world. Because of horses, I
have had the opportunity to capture the
essence and beauty of exotic locations.
Because of horses, I have met interesting
people from all walks of life. Because of
horses, I have learned much and have had a
remarkable journey in life. This show is an
effort to share some of those images that
chronicle my journey."
Based in Glen Rose Texas, USA and Dubai, UAE,
Scott Trees has conducted photo and video
shoots in diverse locations including Russia,
Poland, Europe, the Middle East, North and
South America. "Because of Horses" will
showcase a special selection from these
travels.
"Through my imagery, I seek to portray the
individual character of each horse I
photograph. Like humans, each horse is
unique, and being able to capture that
uniqueness and then being able to further
market it is both a talent and a passion,"
said Trees.
