One Down, 5 to Go The good news is that my work visa was granted last week. The bad news is that I've now come to the realization that we'll need a visa for each member of the family. This should not pose a problem other than the cost. We were not expecting this in the beginning so had not budgeted for it. The fee for each visa is $430. Multiplied by one wife and four children and you have a grand total of $2150.
Many of you have already made generous contributions to our family and we are eternally grateful. For those of you who have been wanting to make an investment to our mission fund and haven't gotten around to it, now would be a great time. You can simply send a check for any amount to Clermont FBC (address at the bottom) and designate it for the Ecker family, even after we're gone. Make sure the check is payable to the church.
Travel update We are currently operating on Plan B. Remember Plan A was for me to go on to London in June and cover for Pastor Brian while he was on sabbatical. But because of the uncertainty of my visa others in London have stepped up to cover his duties so he could get his much deserved time off. I appreciate them so much.
As it stands right now, we will ALL travel to London at the same time in mid-August. Our last Sunday at the church will be July 20th. Then we'll take about a week to get our house finalized for renters and try to be completely "homeless" by the first of the month. We'll spend the first two weeks of August visiting family in Panama City and then we're OFF TO LONDON! This is subject to change, so I'll keep you posted. Remember Bro. Lew's News will continue even from London.
Moving Sale Speaking of our house... We're having our BIG sale this Friday and Saturday, furniture and all, to raise money for moving expenses. Nearly everything must go. So if you've ever wanted to own a piece of the Ecker family, just kidding, but please tell your friends. Also, keep in mind that we have a 4 BR house for rent, two mini-vans for sale, and we need a new home
for Angel, the dog (Bichon). Our address is 11121 Autumn Wind Loop, Clermont. Traveling south on Lakeshore Drive turn left on Oswalt, right on Regal, and right on Autumn Wind (look for signs to guide you). |

Our Church in LondonThe photo above shows the interior of the main church I'll be working with in London as a church-based missionary with London City Mission. This is Upper Holloway Baptist Church where Pastor Brian Wightwick has been pastoring for about 5 years in a joint pastorate with Camden Road Baptist Church. That's right, he pastors two churches. Upper Holloway Baptist is a daughter church of Camden Road Baptist and was founded in the latter half of the 19th century. A few decades ago the original church building had to be torn down and was replaced by a marvelous multi-purpose facility. As you can see in the photo above, the sanctuary can be totally transformed into a gymnasium in a matter of minutes. By the way, that's Angie in the photo - back when she had short hair - leading early-bird activities at a Holiday Bible Club (aka VBS).

Free to a Good Home
How can you resist that face. It's sad but true - Angel will not be moving with us to England. They have very strict rules about bringing animals into the country and require months of quarantine. So it is in her best interest to remain an American, although she is a glorified French poodle hybrid known as a Bichon Frise. Believe it or not this breed of dog is hypo-allergenic and they do not shed or have a strong doggy smell. They do require occasional grooming and enjoy attention. Angel is about 7 years old and has been raised with a large family so is great with kids. "Will you adopt me?" -- Angel, the Dog
