I'll Be Singing Sunday Night
Since Pastors Ben and Dan will be busy most of Sunday afternoon with the "SALT" talks (Strategy And Leadership Training), they put me in charge of the Sunday night service; so I decided to do a concert of some more of my original songs (I sang two last Sunday night) and a few favorites that have been requested. It will begin and end at the usual time of 6:30 - 7:30 PM, in the worship center.

Visa update
I overnighted all my documents to Chicago on Monday and they arrived at the British Consulate before 9 AM Tuesday, according to the UPS tracking website. Now it's a waiting game. You see it doesn't require a visa to visit the UK, but if you plan to live and work there, well that's a different story. Hopefully it won't take them long to recognize that I'm not a terrorist and everything will go smoothly. Keep praying and I'll keep you posted.

Also, please kepp in mind that later in the summer we will have a 4 BR house for rent in Clermont but first we need to sell our furniture, two mini-vans, and find a home for Angel, the dog.

London Fun Facts
London annually attracts some 27m overnight visitors and will host the 2012 Summer Olympics.

London remains the world's most popular city destination and contrary to popular belief, eight in ten visitors find Londoners friendly or very friendly.

London was the first city in the world to have an underground railway, called the 'tube'; the first line was opened in 1863.

London is home to:
  • Seven million people; this is estimated to increase to over eight million by 2020.
  • Aproximately 20,000 taxis and 8,000 busess on 700 routes carrying 6m passengers a day.
  • Eleven Professional football (soccer) teams; we will live very close to the Arsenal stadium.
  • Twenty Four Universities and Colleges; some 350,000 students study in London.
  • More than 200 languages; although the official language is "the Queen's English."
  • Fifty Non-Indigenous Communities with populations of 10,000 or more; London is one of the most diverse cities in the world with 30% of its residents born outside England.
  • Over 6,000 licensed restaurants with menus from 53 major country styles; my goal is to eat in every one, just kidding!
Camden Road Baptist Church
Our Church in London
The photo above shows one the churches I'll be working with in London. This is Camden Road Baptist Church where Pastor Brian Wightwick has been pastoring for nearly 15 years. The church was founded in 1855 and originally included a sanctuary building (to the left) known for it's massive twin steeples. Some years ago that building was sold to the government and the steeples were removed. Today the surrounding community is racially mixed but predominately Afro-Caribbean.
