NEXT WEEK:
London Fun Facts

I'm Still Here
It's looks like I'll be here a few more weeks... I know it seems strange when you say good-bye to someone and they don't leave, but I can't leave where I am until I get permission to "arrive" where I need to go. But please don't call me a man without a country!! :-) Anyway, the reason I'm writing is to let you know I'm still on the job at FBC Clermont, though I may seem distracted at times with "London thoughts."

Please keep me in your prayers as I try to sort out the maze of requirements for my work visa for the United Kingdom. I may have made a few fumbles with the timing that will hopefully be corrected in a few days.

In the meantime, please accept my enormous gratitude for the send-off last Sunday night. Your gracious, kind words and generous gifts are greatly appreciated. You're all a wonderful part of our extended family, so let's keep in touch.

Why London?
Since our first visit to London in 2000, Angie and I have increasingly sensed God's call to "come over" on a full-time basis. That calling has taken me across the Atlantic ten times for various lengths of stay for additional mission trips. I was fortunate that Angie was able to accompany me on over half of those trips.

Over time we developed a deep connection to London pastor, Brian Wightwick. He pastors two London Baptist Association churches in the borough of Islington -- Camden Road Baptist and Upper Holloway Baptist -- in a shared pastorate.

There are great needs in this area of London for work with children, youth, the homeless, and the elderly; and a great opportunity for outreach evangelism with university students, especially international students. Fortunately Upper Holloway church has a strategic location and a tremendous multi-purpose facility for sports, Bible study, fellowship meals, etc.

How Will We be Funded?
God has wonderfully provided me an appointment, pending a face to face interview, with the London City Mission, founded in 1835, as a church-based missionary ministering with the two churches mentioned above and the surrounding community. LCM will provide a salary (and trainig) and the church will provide a house.

As I said last time, we hope you'll partner with us in this faith venture and consider us your missionaries to London by: (1) remembering us in your prayers as Bro. Lew's News keeps you up-to-date with photos and reports; (2) visiting us in London, whether as a tourist or on a mission trip; and (3) prayerfully considering a monthly investment in our ministry in London (one of the most expensive cities in the world).

Donations may be given directly to Clermont FBC and designated for the Ecker family. We promise to be accountable for every dollar (pound) you cheerfully give and to use it for the glory of God.

We would also love to host you for a few days or a few weeks in our home. I'm a great tour guide and London continues to be the world's most popular city destination with over 27m visitors annually. We would love to share it with you.

Our Home in London
I've been told the renovations on our "townhouse" in London (owned by Upper Holloway Baptist Church) are nearing completion with new bathrooms, paint, carpet, and laminate floors. The doors and drafty windows have also been replaced along with a new water heater and central heating unit. No air conditioning required!!

The photo above shows the view from our front living room window on the second floor. In England they call it the first floor. What we call the first floor, they call the ground floor.
