London Calling
We hope and pray that many of you will partner with us as our family steps out on faith and moves to London this summer. The adventure begins for me in a few weeks but Angie and the kids will be around until August.

As soon as I have visa clearance to work in the UK -- hopefully by mid-June -- I'll be crossing the pond to begin ministry with two Baptist churches in North London. These are the two churches pastored by our friend, Rev. Brian Wightwick. He'll be taking a three month sabbatical beginning in July, leaving me in charge!!

When he returns I'll continue on as his associate pastor with duties in both churches coordinating the worship and youth ministries. I'll also be doing some teaching and preaching. In the community, my responsibilities will include weekly homeless ministry and nursing home ministry.

In addition, I'll be starting outreach efforts to several universities in the immediate area, especially among international students. I'm even considering Upward Basketball for 2009, as one of the churches meets in a gym-like multi-purpose building. And, don't forget, the Summer Olympics come to town in 2012.

Will you help us answer the call?
As I said earlier, we hope you'll partner with us in this faith venture and consider the following:
(1st) Honor us with your presence as we say "farewell" on June 8, 5:00 PM, in the Christian Life Center. I promise to sing a few favorites in the evening service.
(2nd) Remember us in your prayers. Bro. Lew's News will keep you up-to-date with photos and reports.
(3rd) Visit us in London, whether as a tourist or on a mission trip. London is the world's most popular city destination with over 27m visitors annually.
(4th) Accept the challenge to support our ministry financially -- I've never had to ask this before, so I'm not comfortable -- but London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Please prayerfully consider investing in the Ecker family weekly, monthly, or with a special gift. Donations may be given directly to Clermont FBC and designated for the Ecker family.
Our Home in London
One of the reasons I'm going on ahead of the family is that our "new" house, owned by the church, is still under renovations and needs furnishing. You saw an exterior photo last week. For clarification, the whole building will not be ours. Our humble abode is only two-windows-wide but with three stories, what Americans might call a townhouse.

Here's the layout: the kids bedrooms are on the top floor and the master bedroom and living room are on the middle floor. The ground floor is made up of a sitting room/office, a large eat-in kitchen, and a utility room. There's no grass to mow but the photo below shows our terraced "garden" in the back. You see it needs a little work.
