Greetings!

Even though I have my sweat pants and long shirts on, it feels good to know that there is something highly conditioned underneath all of that.  It is hard to stay in shape over the fall and winter.  One of the main reasons is that we are covered up.  that is why I am excited to announce my second annual Diet For The Turkey has officially begun.  You can see updates of who is dieting for the turkey on both my Facebook Fan Page as well as my Journal.  Also feel free to participate and send me your info.  You will find all the details of what I am looking for on my Facebook events page.

This month we are going to be talking about believing in your goals. I know it sounds like an over done subject, but naturally I have a twist.
Figure Tip of The Month

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS?

Quite possibly the most popular over done topic in the history of the field of motivation and personal growth is goal setting. You know the SMART goals? Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time specific? What is missing?

There is no B for belief! We have to really think our goals are possible. It is amazing that most goals we set are realistic as well as achievable, but we fail to accomplish them anyway. Then we go out and set new SMART goals, never really factoring in and taking a long hard look in the mirror and asking ourselves.

"Who am I kidding? Do I really believe I am going to actually follow through with this?"

At least if we ask the question and the answer is NO, now we are honest with ourselves and we can either get to belief or ditch the goal. Most of us don't like to be quitters right? We were taught to keep on going, and that it is going to be hard, and winning has a price, and go bang our head up against that wall until you bleed and surely you will deserve your goal then.

But I am suggesting a new way. I am suggesting that you already deserve your goal. You don't have to prove to yourself or anyone else that you are worthy by punishing yourself and working hard. All you have to do is line up with believing that this goals is actually going to happen. Really... think about it, what would happen if you actually achieved your goal? Are you ready for that kind of success?

Here is a very simple 3 step process to get yourself to believing, really believing that you are going to actually make this thing happen.  You will want to journal this exercise.

1. On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being inevitable and 1 being surely not going to happen. How sure are you that you will actually achieve your goal.  Now, I don't mean how sure are you that it is realistic, I have no doubt that it is both realistic and achievable. I am suggesting, you don't really think it is actually going to happen.

2. Write out 5 reasons why you think you will probably not achieve your goal, even though you want to and it is realistic.

3. Look at your list of 5 reasons and for each reason, I want you to ask yourself what is the message that this reason has for me? What is the gift in this perceived limitation?

Now that you know the messages of your limitations, you can move more and more each day into making your goals believable. Do little things each day to help you believe that it will happen. Buy those smaller jeans, send in your entry form for that show, tell your friends you are excited you will be competing on "x" date, since you know you will be ready. Notice how this feels, do you really believe it yourself? If not, that's ok too, keep on going until you do believe it. Practice the art of believing in yourself. Create some mantras you can repeat and above all make the process of going from disbelief to belief a fun experience.
Please feel free to join us all and diet for the turkey.  Also mark your calendars for November 29th.  That will be my next Free Phone Coaching Conference Call. Your ideas are welcome as potential topics of discussion.  And let's not forget Halloween. BOO! Did I scare you?

Sincerely,

Nancy Georges
