But I am suggesting a new way. I am suggesting that you already deserve your goal. You don't have to prove to yourself or anyone else that you are worthy by punishing yourself and working hard. All you have to do is line up with believing that this goals is actually going to happen. Really... think about it, what would happen if you actually achieved your goal? Are you ready for that kind of success?
Here is a very simple 3 step process to get yourself to believing, really believing that you are going to actually make this thing happen. You will want to journal this exercise.
1. On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being inevitable and 1 being surely not going to happen. How sure are you that you will actually achieve your goal. Now, I don't mean how sure are you that it is realistic, I have no doubt that it is both realistic and achievable. I am suggesting, you don't really think it is actually going to happen.
2. Write out 5 reasons why you think you will probably not achieve your goal, even though you want to and it is realistic.
3. Look at your list of 5 reasons and for each reason, I want you to ask yourself what is the message that this reason has for me? What is the gift in this perceived limitation?
Now that you know the messages of your limitations, you can move more and more each day into making your goals believable. Do little things each day to help you believe that it will happen. Buy those smaller jeans, send in your entry form for that show, tell your friends you are excited you will be competing on "x" date, since you know you will be ready. Notice how this feels, do you really believe it yourself? If not, that's ok too, keep on going until you do believe it. Practice the art of believing in yourself. Create some mantras you can repeat and above all make the process of going from disbelief to belief a fun experience.
