Almost Is Not Good Enough!
This month, I am going to be a little hard and a little ruthless. If I am not hard and ruthless, the judges will be. They don't hold anything back. And really, why shouldn't they. We approach them for feedback and we stand on a stage waiting to be "judged" so they are going to do their part, they are going to do their job. The question is, are you doing yours?
Are you doing everything you can to ensure success in your next competition?
Really think long and hard about this one. In fact, I can guarantee with almost certainty that you are not doing everything you can in order to ensure success. Think about these questions:
1. What is stressing you out?
2. What are you not doing in your preparation that you know you should be doing but you are justifying that it is ok that you don't?
3. Who are you allowing to zap your energy and take it away form your prep?
4. What are you unwilling to share with your coach or team that you think they just won't understand if you tell them? So you keep it as your little secret?
Here is the reality, the difference between 1st place and 10th place, is really not very much. It is an extra 10 minutes of cardio a day. A drop in 50 grams of carbs a day. A 10% increase in mental focus and energy. That is all. It is a hard pill to swallow when you don't place where you want to, but the reality is, you look great too! And the other reality is, you ALMOST did everything you needed to do. But almost isn't good enough.
We brush ourselves off, and put our nose to the grind and release the energy that is stopping us from what is destined to be in our hearts. These goals are worthy, or you would not feel the passion. But, everyone feels the passion. You have to be ahead of the game. You have to be 2 steps ahead. This is not to compare you or your diet or your training with other people, but to compare you to yourself, and ask yourself the question:
Am I doing everything I can to ensure success or am I almost doing everything?
Once you nail that, you will be an unstoppable, powerful champion!
I get that we want more in life than looking good. So you have to figure that out for yourself, what can you realistically expect given the amount of effort you are willing to put into each area of your life. Can you increase the intensity? Can you give it more? Can you be better? Can you have it all? Are you doing everything you can?
