If I look back at some of my old calendars I can see them saying things like 10 weeks out or 9 weeks out or whatever weeks out. I realized I was living my life by how many weeks out I was.
This year, I am doing things differently, I am going to diet and get in shape first, then pick a show. Make it about 4 weeks later to offer time for travel hair, nails, tanning and all the other planning that goes into the show.
The challenge with this type of mentality is to be able to push yourself even though you don't have a set date. That is why the trick is to train with passion and diet with persistence and on schedule and perfect with the food even though there is no date set.
With this type of mentality, my training has been amazing, I am eating clean, doing my massive amounts of cardio, just like I am on season. (well, I am on season, just without a date) Once my body gets in shape, I will know it is time to pick a show.
We spend a lot of time trying to force our bodies and our lifestyle to fit into a 12 week time table. My suggestion is to just dump that idea completely and just focus on getting in great shape. That is the goal anyway is it not?
I am having the time of my life getting leaner and leaner week by week, no stress of a show, but dieting for one. It is great. Why didn't I thik of this sooner?
Obviously this isn't the best plan for everyone but if you are feeling it, jump on board, come on and get in shape, walk around in that contest body for a while before you step on stage. Let's see how amazing we can feel every day, not for a show, just because it feels awesome.
