Greetings!

OK so it is not technically March yet, but as I mentioned in my last newsletter, I have momentum and my writing inspiration has been renewed. The topic for this month is about feeling good.  Sounds simple enough right, but you know when you get in a bit of a rut? You know where you want to be, but you are not even close, and that can feel discouraging and even depressing.

I was reminded of a time I was eating out and ordered my "special" food.  My friend said to me, "hey you have to try this cookie it is so yummy"  I gave my usual pre-contest answer, "no thank you" without really even looking at it.  She said, "no really, it is so good, just try it, is one bite going to kill you?" I said "no, but no thank you." It really dawned on me, that she didn't get it at all, it wasn't about the cookie or the calories of the cookie, it was about the mind set.  It was about being in the zone and putting my program on auto pilot.  So I got to thinking why can't we do that all the time? AHA! That is a good question you ask.  Let's explore this.

FIGURE TIP OF THE MONTH

THE BETTER YOU FEEL...  THE BETTER YOU FEEL!

Do you ever notice that momentum goes both ways? Let's say you give in to the cookie, then it is a chip, then it is a slice of cake, then you skip your cardio, then... well, you get where I am going with this.  When we set to our program and we start to get that bit of momentum, we start feeling better and better.  And, naturally the better we feel, the better we feel. This is why it is so easy at a certain point to just say no to extra food and yes to extra cardio.  It is developing the mind set.  We need to have the discipline, to just write out a diet, write out a training program, stick it on the fridge and then stick to it like glue.  Make it super easy at first, even 10 minutes of cardio or something like that, then each week as you notice perfection, and how good it feels, bump up the cardio, take out a bit of carbs in the diet.  You start to become aware of your success, and this feels good, and of course the better you feel, the better you feel, and you just keep on riding the wave.  Pretty soon it is so easy and people around you say "how do you do it" and when you say "it is easy" you will know why.

March is the time to get in shape.  Spring is almost here and I can feel my tank tops screaming for me.  So if you don't currently have a training program, and a nutrition program on your fridge, I invite you to take the challenge.  Write something out, make it easy to accomplish then tighten up the slack each week, by summer time, you will be looking and feeling your best ever.
Thank you everyone who wrote me last month and were inspired by my newsletter, please keep those emails coming and let me know what is on your mind.

Until next month,
(or maybe sooner)
