Energy Cheats
- Sit up straight - bad posture makes your muscles work harder!
- Iron - combine with vitamin C to reduce tiredness. Mouth ulcers, thinning hair, dizziness and shortness of breath also indicate low iron levels
- Ginseng - not to be taken if you have high blood pressure or diabetes, this is a natural stimulant (and is what gives the Lift Off some of the zing!)
- Vitamin B12 - if you are vegan, on HRT or oral contraception you need B12! You might be low if you are feeling very worn out and getting headaches too (also in Lift Off !)

- Co-Enzyme Q10 - again if you are on any kind of hormones this is a good one to take. It's also essential if you are taking heart medication or doing a great deal of training.

How to use sunscreen
With summer well and truly here more of us are out in the sunshine. So are you using sunscreen properly?
- Apply it everywhere! Don't forget the soles of your feet and the tops of your ears!
- Use enough. You should be using about 2 mg per square centimetre of skin which is about 35 ml per application for an average person. That's almost 2 tablespoons! An average 200ml bottle will only last a few days if used correctly.
- The right SPF. If you are fair and freckly use SPF30+ and if you have olive or dark skin you can use as little as SPF15
- Check the sell by date. If your sunscreen is too old it just won't work.
- Apply before the sun. Sunscreen is a chemical and it takes time to work. Ideally apply 30 minutes before you go out in the sun and then every 2 hours after that.
- Reapply! Remember that all sunscreen does is increase the amount of time you can spend in the sun, it is not a block! You must reapply or else the chemicals stop working and you burn.
- Blocks. If you are going to be out in the sun and need a true block use a Mineral sunscreen such as zinc or titanium oxide. These reflct the sun. However they are often brightly coloured.
