Baking Soda! Healthy, Helpful and Thrifty!
Every week, I try to introduce some old natural remedies that you might find handy, healthy and cost effective. Hmmm........what is handy, healthy and cost effective?? BAKING SODA! Yup, this little box can do wonders for your body and your home. Try some of these ideas and let me know what you think!
Baking soda for Cleaning!
-Baking soda can clean almost any surface in your household. Just mixing baking soda with some water and you can clean your stove, sink, counter-top, and so on. When you use baking soda to clean everything looks very shiny and sparkling clean.
-Add a cup to the toilet and leave it for an hour, then flush. It will clean the toilet and absorb the odor.
-Baking soda is fab to remove grease from pots and pans!
-To clean jewelry, use a paste of 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water, apply the mixture the piece, allow to sit for a couple of minutes, rinse off and then polish with a soft cloth.
Personal Hygiene
-Baking soda is wonderful to brush your teeth. All natural no preservatives, just keep a box in the bathroom, wet your toothbrush, dip it in the box and brush!
-Stinky shoes? Eeeeyuck! LOL! Get a couple of old socks, fill up the toe sections with baking soda, place into the stinky shoes and leave overnight to help remove odors.
Your home!
-Want to make those flowers that he bought you last longer? Adding a teaspoon to the water in the vase will help your flowers last.
-Baking soda is the food safe way to clean dirt and residue off fresh fruit and vegetables. Just sprinkle a little on a clean damp sponge, scrub and rinse.
Laundry
Work a baking soda and water paste onto stains prior to washing to help remove them from the fabric.
Add a half cup of baking soda to a full load to help brighten your wash and remove odors.
