A Message from our President, JJ Brun

PRESS FORWARD...IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE
On December 31st the clock strikes midnight ushering in another New Year. Maybe you dread what the New Year holds for you; lack of business opportunities, retirement, an empty house, chronic illness, life without a loved one or the fact you did not accomplish what you had set out to do. Life has a way of providing us with character building moments - taking people at the end of their rope only to set them, once again, on the road (on-the-right-track to quote our very own Rhonda Scharf) to peace and prosperity. We all have the right to start over...choose to press forward!
What do you want to see happen this year? Does it include growing your own business? Losing some weight? Reuniting with family members? Only you can complete the question. Stephen Covey says, "Begin...with the image of the end of your life as your frame of reference...each day will then contribute to the vision you have of your life as a whole." To paraphrase...begin with the end in mind.
Beginning with the end in mind, determine your goals. Write them down, and then make yourself accountable for the outcome or discuss your goals with a mentor - one who only longs for your success. A mentor's desire is for you to walk in your strengths every day of this year.
Would you agree that life doesn't always wait until we are ready before handling us with challenges - character building moments? Like a small child trying to fill big shoes, at first we do badly, then awkwardly, and with a stumble here and there. The only thing that can stop us...from growing into those big shoes is the fear of putting our feet into them.
As I start my CAPS Ottawa Presidency I know that the success of our Chapter will greatly be enhanced by my ability to seek out mentors throughout the year, in order for me to walk in my strengths. I have already had a few bad and awkward moments...humbling to say the least! Knowing that I have the right to start over, I press toward the end in mind, ensuring that 2010 brings peace and prosperity to our CAPS members.
Press forward...it's your time to shine,
CAPS Ottawa 2010 President

Do you ever wonder...
Why does some training make total sense and other sessions leave you asking "What was the point of that?" Why sometimes your training is a hit? And other days it flops? Designing training that meet the needs of ALL the members of your audience is a carefully constructed "art".
In this hands-on session, you will:
- Gain insight into the four learning styles
- Identify your personal learning style
- Learn how to design learning activities that satisfy the needs of ALL learners
And more...
You'll walk away with templates to help you design learning activities and lists of activities to make your training sessions more
interactive. Learner engagement increases learner retention. You will create your Personal Action Plan for increasing the "E" (engagement/effective) factor in your sessions and implementing your learnings.
If you are serious about increasing the effectiveness of your training sessions -- then you need to be at this session!
Janet Stewart-Lussier works with organizations to create high-performance workplace teams by providing leaders and their staff with interpersonal skills training and development that leads to improved employee effectiveness, productivity and efficiency.
