In our Learning Sessions last month the topic of cost savings and the value case for human milk was raised several times. It is critical as we go forward that we frame the value of the initiatives we are undertaking. PQCNC seeks value in at three general categories for the initiatives we develop. These categories are partnering with patients and families, spreading best practices and reducing variation, and resource optimization. The linked articles ultimately address all these elements but give particular attention to the economic benefits of practices that increase the use of exclusive human milk feeding in the NICU as well as the mother baby unit and beyond.
