We are approaching November and the final Learning Session for the Support for Intended Vaginal Birth Initiative. The first portion of the agenda for this event will include not only a review of the latest project data, but an analysis of the lessons learned from your team's achievements and ongoing challenges.

The goal of increasing the rate of vaginal births among NSTV women who intend to deliver vaginally yet end up with a cesarean section by 25% is a bold goal. Although we have not achieved this goal yet, we have learned much in this initiative and have made improvements in critical practice areas. The word from teams is that while our goal is ambitious, it can be reached. Additional time, however, needs to be dedicated to our efforts. Based on this input, we will begin the planning of Phase 2 of the SIVB initiative in the second half of our November Learning session.

The afternoon portion of this upcoming Learning Session will take advantage of the expertise of all attendees as you are the experts. During this time we will begin development of the aim, mission and measures for Phase 2 of SIVB. The attendees will be asked to use our Phase 1 experience to develop the Phase 2 portion of this initiative which will be supported by a brand new, lean measure set that will support the work, and does not detract from it.

The development of a successful Phase 2 SIVB project requires your expertise at our Learning Session in November. You have dedicated enormous energy and effort to increasing the health and welfare of moms and babies in North Carolina through Phase 1 efforts. We have had some notable successes yet the battle is not yet won.

We are calling on you and your team to click on the link above and register for the upcoming Learning Session. Join us in Raleigh on November 2nd at the McKimmon Center.
