It's refreshing to see that others are as confused about some aspects of neonatal nutrition as I am! Click here for an international review which highlights areas of uncertainty and demonstrates the marked variability which exists in feeding practices. The take away for me is we don't know the right answers for many of our questions, but consisteny in approach is critical. This reference includes analyses of access to donor breast milk, timing of feeding initiation, and target feeding volumes in Canadian and European NICUs. We've also been contacted recently by several teams regarding the use of galactogogues. Click here for a review of the common, and some not so common, treatments used to support lactation. Fascinating reading! Hope you enjoy. This was very educational for me.
A question for the EHM teams that are sampling, how many babies do you intend to sample per month and how do you pick them?
