We have been asked by the March of Dimes (MOD) if the PQCNC EHM groups would be willing to include a new MOD program in the effort to increase eclusive human milk rates in NICUs and nurseries. The MOD module called "Close To Me" is designed to promote and support kangaroo care. The initial version of this module is designed with NICU infants in mind but MOD would like to modify this module for use in promoting skin to skin care in all newborns. I ask that you and your team review this program for discussion at our next webinars. MOD will present an overview of "Close To Me" for EHM NICU at our June 13th webinar. A presentation for EHM Nursery will occur at the webinar on June 22. Given the power of skin to skin care in promoting the exclusive use of human milk it is hoped that these modules will present a common framework from which to increase skin to skin time, ultimately for all infants. Your suggestions regarding incorporation of these modules into current activities and opportunities to transform this program into a resource for well nurseries will be most appreciated!
