LAST CHANCE FOR REGISTRATION - June 7 learning session |
As of May 15, only 11 teams had registered for the June 7 learning session in Raleigh. We hope to see most if not all of the SIVB hospital teams at that meeting. If you are planning to attend, please register this week. On Friday, we will follow up with the hospitals who have asked to bring additional team members to let them know there is space. We will be looking at the first four months of data from this initiative, leaders in perinatal quality improvement will share their perspectives, the Director of the Division of Medical Assistance (Medicaid) will discuss the relationship of this initiative to the Pregnancy Home program, and PQCNC leadership will discuss the future of our organization. There will also be time allotted for teams to interact with each other to share challenges and success stories.
Use this link to access the registration page on the PQCNC website.

May 24 webinar is next week |
Next Tuesday is the last in our series of four monthly webinars. We have two guest speakers: Leigh Ann Joel, a midwife with the Women's Birth and Wellness Center in Chapel Hill who has extensive experience in the private practice setting, will discuss the midwifery model's approach to achieving vaginal birth. Celeste Milton of The Joint Commission will review the Joint Commission's first year of the Perinatal Care measure set, including what the first two quarters of data are showing and how these measures continue to be revised as they are used in practice. There will be a brief discussion period for teams to share strategies with each other. The link to the webinar program is here; you will need to dial in for the audio portion, 712-432-6100, passcode 96875#.

Data |
April data and reports: Thanks again for everyone's efforts to enter April data. Data reports went out last week to those teams whose data entry was complete. If your April data is now complete, please let Jessica know so she can run your report. May data: We hope to include information about May data at the June 7 learning session. In order to give us time to analyze this data, please try to have your May data in as early as possible. Data after May: While funding challenges are limiting the number of activities we have been able to plan for this initiative for the second half of 2011, PQCNC will continue to support many components of this initiative, including data collection and providing monthly reports. Please continue to submit data each month; it may take several months for improvements that you are currently implementing to show up in the processes and outcomes we are measuring for this project.

A resource for eliminating elective deliveries before 39 weeks |
While many of the SIVB hospitals have already done extensive work to eliminate elective delivery before 39 weeks, some of you report ongoing struggles to ensuring all stakeholders are investing in this as a priority. The March of Dimes worked with the California Maternity Quality Care Collaborative to develop the "Less than 39 Weeks Toolkit".
