Learning Session 1

learning session Wintry weather did not dampen the enthusiasm and lively exchange among assembled teams in Raleigh on January 18 and I expect an equally enthusiastic group of teams in Winston Salem tomorrow!  Miriam Labbok, MD and Emily Taylor, MPH, led important discussions about the science behind the action plan and the teams began planning the tests of change for the coming weeks.

We are now in the Action Phase of our Initiative!

AgendaMuch of the learning session is spent planning the actions that teams will take to either remove barriers or increase support for exclusive breastfeeding during the maternity stay. Data collection will continue throughout the initiative and the focus now is on testing changes expected to increase the number of mothers and babies who have been exclusively breastfeeding throughout the maternity stay. The current initiative focus is on testing changes in the action plan in A-1, for labor and delivery, and in B-2 for postpartum. Where will your team begin?
