Learning Session 1

learning sessionWintry weather prevented 2 teams from participating in the learning session and made several travel teams smaller than planned; however, wintry weather did not dampen the enthusiasm and lively exchange among assembled teams in Winston Salem on January 13. Laurie Dunn, MD, and Polly Sisk, PhD, led important discussions about the science behind the action plan and the teams began planning the tests of change for the coming weeks. Learning Session 1 will be repeated in an abbreviated format via webinar on January 25 2011 from 2-4 pm. Click here for instructions and to log on.

We are now in the Action Phase of our Initiative!

Agenda Much of the learning session was spent planning the actions teams will take to either remove barriers or increase support for mothers who are pumping milk for their VLBW infants. Data collection will continue throughout the initiative and the focus now is on testing changes expected to increase the number of mothers who initiate and pump adequate volumes. The current initiative focus is on testing changes in the action plan in A-2, "Provide early and continuous support to obtain mother's milk," and A-3, "Promote regular maternal skin to skin contact." Where will your team begin?

Learning Session 2- Webinar

conference call Webinars have been scheduled for the second Tuesday in the months of February, March, April and June; a request was made at learning session 1 that these dates be reconsidered. Due to the proximity of the date, the February learning session will be held as scheduled on February 8 @ 2 pm. The clinical leads have provided two alternatives: the second Monday or Wednesday from 2-4 pm. Please have one key contact from your team email me and let me know if your team has a regular conflict on the second Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of March, April and June.
