Learning Session 1

learning sessionRaleigh learning session - Tuesday January 25
We are looking forward to seeing many teams at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh next Tuesday.  Registration/continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 and our meeting will start promptly at 8:55 (and end promptly at 3:30).  Go to the Support for Birth Learning Session 1 page on the PQCNC website - scroll down the page for the January 25 information.  Due to the compressed timeframe for this initiative, teams will need to follow up quickly following this session to determine how they will take action and test changes to practice.

January 11 webinar follow-up
Teams who participated in the January 11 session need to return the following items to us (kberrien@unch.unc.edu) no later than January 25:
  • Patient-centered care assignment
  • Draft action plan - goals and objectives page
Please contact me with any questions about the action planning process.  The draft action plan will be your team's guide as you work on changes to promote the rate of vaginal birth over the next several months.

Preparation for the February webinar

conference call Our first all-team webinar will be held on Feb. 22 from 7:30-9am.  The three key team members (physician champion, nurse champion, hospital administrative champion) are expected to participate, and you are welcome to include as many other team members as you like.  We will be approaching individual teams whose baseline data suggests they are an outlier to discuss specific practices.  If your team would like to present a specific approach you have taken that has had an impact on your c-section rate (or did not produce expected results) or a specific challenge to improving the rate of vaginal birth, please let me know.  The webinars will be an opportunity for the hospitals participating in this initiative to exchange information and learn from each other.
