Upcoming important dates, next steps for the SIVB Initiative...

(The Support for Birth initiative's weekly email newsletter comes out every Tuesday.  As a reminder, it is your job as key contact to share relevant information with other team members at your hospital.)

November 9, 2010
How is November baseline data collection going?

data entry Be sure to collect data on all NTSV patients (nulliparous,>37 weeks, singleton, vertex) in order beginning with the 1st of the month.  You should submit a form for all NTSV patients, even if admitted for c-section (you will not have to provide much information on those cases).  Follow the instructions on the form closely.  You do not need to submit a form if the patient is <37 weeks, is a multip, or has a breech baby or multiple gestation.

Register your SIVB team with PQCNC and sign up for the January learning session by November 15

calendar Use the link below to accomplish three things:

http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/391060/fugqy

1. Let us know who your team members are
2. Let us know which learning session your team will attend
3. Let us know which team members will attend the learning session

Each team is encouraged to bring 3-6 team members to the learning session.  The three champions are required to attend (physician, nurse, hospital), and you are encouraged to include performance improvement/quality department personnel, staff nurses, educators, patient advocates and others who will help support your work to increase the vaginal birth rate for first-time moms at your hospital.

PQCNC supports the new Birth Certificate roll-out

update PQCNC is supporting N.C. Vital Records as it works to implement the new birth certificate in  all North Carolina birth facilities by the end of 2010.  Because of the increase in the amount and specificity of the clinical information on the birth certificate, we are encouraging nurses and nurse administrators to look for ways to partner with birth registrars.  It is very importan that we strive for complete and accurate birth certificate data, both to ensure our state is accurately represented at the national level and to help us learn more about perinatal health and target areas for perinatal quality improvement.  Please visit the Birth Certificate page we've created on www.pqcnc.org for more information.
