One of the newest PQCNC Initiatives aims to increase the exclusivity of breastfeeding in the term well newborn. In August, a letter was sent via US mail to all North Carolina Hospital CEO's and copied to CNO's, as well as selected medical and nursing directors. Registration was found on the PQCNC website (www.pqcnc.org) and currently we have 22 maternity centers that have registered and provided an email for a key contact person. The primary role of the key contact person is to forward the emails about the initiative to everyone on your hospital's team. Since this may be new information for some key contacts and since I have spoken with individuals who were not aware that they had been signed up for this role, I am sending this notice to everyone's email provided to us on the registration form on the PQCNC website. My goal is to help assure that everyone interested can attend the first webinar of the initiative, this week on Thursday or next week on Monday (see below). Thank you in advance for all you are doing for the most vulnerable North Carolina citizens and for forwarding this email, as appropriate, within your organization.

Webinar scheduled for September 30, 9-11 AM

The first webinar for teams registered for the Human Milk-Well Baby initiative will be held on September 30 from 9-11 am and repeated on October 4 from 2-4 pm. You need only attend the webinar that is most convenient for you, and, members of your team may attend either one. You are listed as the key contact and as such your role is to disseminate time sensitive information to the team of folks who can use it. We know you are in the beginning stages of creating a team to increase the number of babies discharged from your hospital having had human milk exclusively. The agenda for the meeting will be to introduce you to the PQCNC Clinical Leaders of the initiative, the action plan the timeline and the measures. Please send this email out to all potential team members and staff who might be able to join the virtual meeting. It will be important to have a nurse (or nurses) from L&D on your team, hopefully one can attend the upcoming webinar.
Sign in to the web based portion of the meeting by clicking here anytime in the 15 minutes before the meeting starts. The conference call number for the meeting is 712-432-6100, passcode 96875#
You can find the charter on the PQCNC Website
Thank you in advance for your expertise, your enthusiasm and your commitment to mothers and babies in North Carolina. Please don't hesitate to contact me with comments or questions in the interim.
