Life & Legacy of Andrew Carnegie

The ASF & the Museum of American Finance invite you to a Panel Discussion (6:00pm) followed by Reception (7:00pm).
The Discussion will spotlight Carnegie's love of Scotland and explore his involvement and impact on topics from Philanthropy to Business, Education and Finance.
Panelists include: Vartan Gregorian, President, Carnegie Corporation of New York (Introduction); Peter Krass, Award-winning author of Carnegie (Moderator); Ellen Condliffe Lagemann, Levy Institute Research Professor, Bard College; Martyn Evans, Chief Executive, Carnegie UK Trust; Anthony Marx, President, New York Public Library.

Tartan Day Observance

Join us at Dag Hammerskjold Plaza (between 1st and 2nd Avenue & 47th Street), as the American-Scottish Foundation® (Scottish Coalition NY State Representatives and NY Tartan Day Founding Committee Members) observe this historic date with readings by Gerda Stevenson (appearing in Federer Versus Murray at 59E59 Theater) and music by Mike Ogletree. (formerly of Simple Minds)
Piper Andy Hamilton (New York Metro Pipe Band) will play 'Farewell to the Creeks', 'A Border Ballad' and 'Scotland the Brave'.
The Declaration of Arbroath was signed on April 6th, 1320. Some 678 years later, in 1998, Senate Resolution 155 was passed, designating April 6 as National Tartan Day "to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States".
No Tickets required - this is a FREE event.

The 14th Annual Tartan Day Parade! March with us as we to take to Sixth Avenue for the Tartan Day Parade. The Parade, of which ASF is a founding partner, caps off a great week of events celebrating Scotland-Tartan Week.This year we are delighted to welcome back John Nisbet who runs Piper's Cove in Kearny, New Jersey with his band of Pipers (bused in to NYC especially for the occasion!)

The ASF - through the Lord Malcolm Douglas Hamilton Bursaries and Education - is proud to be supporting the Uncommon Charter High School (UCHS) in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in their goal of attending the National Theatre of Scotland's Youth Exchange Festival this July.
The Foundation is making a donation to help get talented local high school students to Scotland so that they can engage in what will be a fantastic exchange of artistic and cultural ideas.
