We would like to share with you news of some of the fantastic 'After Dark' events that are happening during Scotland-Tartan Week 2012: April 6th-14th.

 

The 2012 program reflects the Year of Creative Scotland and is filled with music, theater, art and culture in all forms. 

 

At the heart of our events are our live music showcases - presented in association with Creative Scotland and Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Scotland - Song of Return, winners of The Big Apple Tartan Clef Award, recognizing the band to be the freshest new musical talent in Scotland. Appearing alongside them is the stunning Phamie Gow. We are very excited to present these wonderful Scottish musicians in New York and to support Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Scotland in its ongoing work. The ASF & the Museum of American Finance invite you to a Panel Discussion (6:00pm) followed by Reception (7:00pm). 

 

The Discussion will spotlight Carnegie's love of Scotland and explore his involvement and impact on topics from Philanthropy to Business, Education and Finance.

Exhibition at Salmagundi Art Club of New York

 

Barbara Berger presents New York and Edinburgh in a co-exhibition with esteemed landscape and seascape painter Joseph Perez, at the historic Salmagundi Art Club of New York. The Saint Andrew's Society of the State of New York's annual cocktail reception at the New York Racquet and Tennis Club, 370 Park Ave., (52nd Street), NYC from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Business or Cocktail Attire required.

Price: $60 per person for members and their guests, $80 per person for non-members.  Supported by Year of Creative Scotland 2012, Grant's and Walkers.

American-Scottish Foundation's Tartan Day Observance 

  

 

 

 

 

 

Join the ASF at Dag Hammerskjold Plaza, as the ASF (Scottish Coalition NY State Representatives and NY Tartan Day Founding Committee Members) observe this historic date with readings and music.

 

The Declaration of Arbroath was signed on April 6th, 1320. Some 678 years later, in 1998, Senate Resolution 155 was passed, designating April 6 as National Tartan Day "to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States".   

   

No Tickets required - this is a FREE event

Pre-Parade Ceilidh - NY Caledonian Club
 

Warm-up with jigs and reels at the NY Caledonian Club's world famous pre-parade ceilidh on Friday night. Held at Abigail Adams, 417 East 61 Street (between 1st Ave. and York Ave.) Booking strongly advised. 

Tickets $30 members, $35 non-members. Price at the door will be $40; door sales only after midnight on April 11. NYCC gratefully thank Belhaven Brewery for donating beer for the event; to include their Twisted Thistle and Belhaven Lager on draft. Buy your tickets here.
