THREE SIMPLE RECEIVING TIPS FOR MAY
1) Say "thank you." Look for opportunities to accept gifts and say thank you - to people, events, or even things.
2) Be grateful and express your gratitude. Begin a journal to write down at least 5 things you are grateful for every day.
3) Be open to connecting with and expressing true feelings and vulnerabilities by seeking out opportunities to be self-revealing with others. This is about embracing your wholeness, "good" and "bad," and sharing your Self with others (while keeping healthy boundaries and good judgment). |

The Law of Giving and Receiving: Referral Rewards Come Your Way
There are so many cycles present in our lives, in the universe. Whether it's the water cycle - water evaporates, forms clouds, precipitation brings the water right back down; the circle of life - birth and death; the cycle of day to night, the planetary orbits, or a bicycle wheel spinning, there's an unwritten understanding that...well, things go round.
One of the more valuable cycles in our lives is the unwritten Law of Giving and Receiving. By opening yourself up to giving, whether it's a compliment, a tangible item, or a genuine feeling, you initiate your cycle to receive generously back. Of course, to keep the cycle turning, you also have to open yourself up to receiving, whether it's practicing gratitude, being an excellent listener, or welcoming gifts, no matter how small or large, that come your way. I've decided to extend the Law of G&R even further into Ahimsa Life Coaching by offering referral rewards to all of you Ahimsa Lifers! You may not need coaching yourself at this time, but do you know anyone who would benefit greatly from it? Creating valuable connections is a wonderful way to accelerate your giving and receiving and, in turn, I'd love to show my appreciation of such wonderful gifts with a gift to you of my own!
By now, you may (or may not) know how important I value self-care - taking time to heal, recalibrate, and give R&R time to your body, mind, and spirit. So, starting today, anyone who refers someone who signs on for a 3- or 6-month program with Ahimsa Life Coaching will receive a generous thank you in the form of a $50
1) massage, acupuncture, Reiki, or other revitalizing self-care service gift certificate or
2) vegan restaurant gift certificate, ensuring a day or night of compassionate & healthful indulgence!
I love being a coach and getting the opportunity to support, guide, enlighten, and inform my clients in whatever areas of their lives in which they are looking to thrive. There's no reason you shouldn't be thriving too - and taking care of your Self is a major part of it! I'm excited to enter into this Giving and Receiving partnership with all of you - let's keep everything going round and round (while you are living the life of an R&R guru)!
If you know someone who would like a free consultation for coaching, you can put them in contact with me through my website consultation page. You (or they) can always email me at ahimsalifecoaching@gmail.com too. |

Ya Keen for Quinoa?
Well? Are ya? If you are, then you know how delicious and nutritious quinoa is for you. If you aren't, then maybe it's time to introduce yourself to this amazing complete protein.
Pronounced "keen-wah," and actually a seed, or pseudograin, quinoa is considered part of the whole grain family. Chock full of nutrients, you can be sure that this "grain" will be an excellent source of minerals, such as magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, and phosphorus. Also a complete protein and gluten-free, quinoa packs on even more benefits, as it's easy to make and to digest, not to mention tasty to the buds with its slightly nutty flavor. Its flexible/malleable nature allows it to be crunchy or fluffy, perfect for dinner or just the right food for breakfast, depending on your mood and how you cook it. Oh, it's so easy to be keen on quinoa for so many reasons (yep, even including its migraine prevention/reduction and high fiber qualities).
The basics for cooking: 2 cups water for 1 cup quinoa. Bring water to a boil, then cover and simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Heat off, let it sit. Fluff with a fork. Simple, tasty, and healthy. Way to go, quinoa: MVP of the grains without officially even being one. You can vary your cooking style depending on how you like it. Soak and rinse before if you choose. Quinoa in with the water while you're bringing it to a boil will create more of a stickiness, while adding it after the boil keeps it more separate, piecey. Play with the timing, amount of water, the heat, and flavor additions: the more water, the mushier, the less water, the fluffier. You can add spices to the water you're cooking the quinoa in, or you can add them after it's cooked. You can always keep an eye on that timer and the quinoa, checking the water level or dryness of it and cooking extra or less accordingly.
Quinoa is perfect for those bulk cooks, which net you one meal on the spot, plus tons more to package up and just reheat (or eat cold!) for future meals. I usually make a huge batch, and spread it out over a few days' meals. Wanna keep it simple and flavorful? Make your batch of quinoa, lightly spiced to your preference, add in some crumbled browned tempeh, some steamed kale, chopped carrots, cashews, raisins, and sauce it up a bit - maybe something creamy like hummus, a little tangy like chili sauce, or a light simple marinara or olive oil and lemon.
Here are some other recipes to fit your quinoa bill, for going wild with veggies or b-fast with your porridge:
