December 2011
Greetings!

Welcome to the first edition of our Classroom Champions newsletter. The 2011-12 program is off to a great start. These monthly newsletters will keep you up to date on what's happening inside and outside of the classrooms. Our athletes and teachers are doing amazing things and feedback has been extremely positive. Stay tuned for good things to come!

Thanks for your support,

Classroom Champions designates themes for each month so that teachers can tailor their curricula and incorporate athlete videos into their planning. October was goal setting month. In the video below, hurdler David Oliver records a video for his classrooms from outside the Olympic Stadium in London.

Classroom Champions would not be effective without the time, effort and dedication of our teachers. They are true champions!

November's theme was about finding inspiration. Ms. Daily's class was inspired by a quote from Olympic legend Jesse Owens.

Universal Sports Partnership
Classroom Champions has entered into a unique content-sharing partnership with NBC-Universal Sports. America's number one spot for Olympic sports coverage, their web site now includes a section featuring Classroom Champions athletes and messages. See the goal setting message from Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

In the news

In October, Steve was nominated for the 2011 Champion for Peace by Peace and Sport.  In this video interview from the event in Monaco, Steve talks about how Classroom Champions works and includes a message for the students.

Our Mission
To connect students in high-need schools with top performing athletes in order to motivate them to recognize their potential, set goals and dream big, while educating them in the practical use of communications technology.
